Serie A Matchday 21 betting preview, soccer tips & best bets
The 2023/24 Serie A season continues this weekend with six matches of top-quality Italian football action. Here are our tips and previews for Matchday 21:
Roma vs Hellas Verona preview
Sunday, January 21 – 4:00am AEDT – Stadio Olimpico
Following the midweek sacking of coach Jose Mourinho, the Roma players are now under pressure to perform under new coach Daniele De Rossi. After losing their last three Serie A matches, Roma now has an excellent chance to bounce back as they welcome 18th-placed Hellas Verona. With the odds heavily skewed towards Roma, look to add the total match goals, with eight of the last nine matchups going over the line.

Udinese vs AC Milan preview
Sunday, January 21 – 6:45am AEDT – Bluenergy Stadium
Following their upset win over AC Milan in November, Udinese have now worked their way out of the relegation zone. Looking for a much better performance in the reverse fixture, AC Milan enters this match in excellent form, comfortably holding on to their spot in third. With AC Milan expected to have plenty of chances, keep an eye out for French striker Olivier Giroud, who leads the side with 10 goals this season, including two in his last two matches.

Frosinone vs Cagliari preview
Sunday, January 21 – 10:30pm AEDT – Stadio Benito Stirpe
On a seven-match winless streak, Frosinone find themselves tumbling down the table as the second-worst attack in the Serie A. Facing a critical relegation clash, they welcome Cagliari, who came off a critical upset win over Bologna last weekend. In the reverse fixture, it was Cagliari who came from 3-0 down to win 4-3, and with the weak defences of both sides, expect plenty of goals once again here.
OVer 2.5 Goals
Empoli vs Monza preview
Monday, January 22 – 1:00am AEDT – Stadio Carlo Castellani
Sat in 19th with the worst attack in the Serie A, Empoli quickly need to turn their season around as they already sit five points away from safety. Without a win in their last eight matches, Empoli haven’t been particularly good at home this season, earning just four points. Monza came off a tough run of facing the top four and the defending champions across the last seven weeks and will welcome an easier draw on the road here as they look to hold their mid-table position.
Monza Win
Salernitana vs Genoa preview
Monday, January 22 – 4:00am AEDT – Stadio Arechi
Undefeated in their last five matches, Genoa are slowly making their way up the table as a result of their excellent defence. Looking to keep the run going, they head to face the last-placed Salernitana this weekend, who have the worst defence in the Serie A and just two wins so far this season. Despite playing on the road, Genoa should be too strong here.
Genoa Win
Lecce vs Juventus preview
Monday, January 22 – 6:45am AEDT – Stadio Ettore Giardiniero
With a chance to put the pressure on Inter Milan and jump into first place, Juventus heads to Lecce this weekend. After winning just one of their past nine matches, it seems unlikely that Lecce will be able to break their drought here. With Juventus playing away, they have added odds, but look for them to keep Lecce scoreless, as the home side has just one goal in their past four.
