Suncorp Stadium is normally the home ground of the Brisbane Broncos, but for round 10 of the NRL, they will head to the visitors’ dressing rooms to accommodate the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Brisbane have put two good performances together, and many would argue they should have won against the Cowboys, while the Sea Eagles have moved up to ninth on the ladder following four wins in their last five games. Manly have racked up scores of 36, 40 and 38 points in their three games with Tom Trbojevic in the team, which paints a bleak picture for the Broncos, but Brisbane coach Kevin Walters insists they are a team going places despite their 19-18 loss to the Cowboys in round nine.

Sea Eagles vs Broncos match preview

Since Tommy Turbo came back into the side for Manly, Reuben Garrick and Jason Saab are seeing green pastures in front of them on the wing. Saab has scored six of his seven tries since Trbojevic came back into the side, while Garrick has four of his own in that time. Both should be backed to score a try at any time, as should Tommy himself, but the value pick should be Daly Cherry-Evans. The -8.0 feels like an easy way to boost the head-to-head price, but the 13+ price should be given plenty of attention, and it would mean the Sea Eagles could be back in the top eight by the end of the weekend.

The usual attention and respect should be given to Storm-bound winger Xavier Coates, but we feel like Herbie Farnworth should be put in some multis as an anytime option for the Broncos. Farnworth has impressed every time he has taken the field in 2021, and he could get around the outside of Morgan Harper. Payne Haas could be a good value option, as the Sea Eagles are lacking some depth in their middle-forward rotation. The one stat that will fill Broncos fans with some hope is the fact that all of their results at Suncorp Stadium in 2021 have covered the +8.0 line they are being given by online bookmakers this week, so perhaps this game will be closer than many are expecting?

Key matchup: Tom Trbojevic vs Jamayne Isaako

Jamayne Isaako has reinvigorated his career at fullback under Kevin Walters and is having a sensational season, but he isn’t even in the same stratosphere as Tom Trbojevic. It’s not to denigrate Isaako, but more to illustrate that footy fans are seeing one of the great runs of form by a player in the NRL era. Nine try assists and five tries of his own in four games only just scratches the surface of Tommy Turbo’s impact, so Isaako is going to have to play out of his skin to make his own presence felt.
