Friday night football for the NRL’s Magic Round wraps up with the Manly Sea Eagles taking on the competition-leading Broncos. Brisbane fans will fondly remember the flogging they game Manly exactly one year ago, but will history repeat itself?
The Brisbane Broncos have received a much-needed boost with the return of Ezra Mam and Payne Haas from their suspensions. Jock Madden has dropped out of the side to make way for Mam, while Kobe Hetherington has gone back to the reserves to make way for Keenan Palasia on the bench and Haas in the starting line-up.
The Sea Eagles have mixed news in their team list with Jake Trbojevic and Toafofoa Sipley missing through injury and suspension, respectively, with Aaron Woods and Ben Trbojevic stepping up in their places. At the same time, Tom Trbojevic, Brad Parker and Tolutau Koula return in the back half.
Both sides are coming off of heavy losses in round nine, but the return of Haas and Mam for the Broncos is key. The Sea Eagles will struggle in the middle of the field without the elder Trbojevic, and the $2.15 at BetOnline for the Broncos to win by 13 or more points is a brilliant price.
Kotoni Staggs had one of his worst games in recent memory against the Rabbitohs, making errors at key stages during the match. Returning to his home ground, he will be determined to make amends for that performance. Parker may be one of the better defensive centres in the NRL, but he will not be strong enough to stop Staggs in full flight. Look for a huge statement game from the one-time Blues centre as he scores a double in front of his home fans ($7.25).
Both sides are littered with representative talent, and they also have forward packs capable of building the foundations for their halves and outside backs to attack from. History shows that matches between these two sides are high-scoring affairs, and with perfect playing conditions expected in Brisbane, this game should go over 44.5 total points ($1.90).
Key matchup: Tom Trbojevic v Reece Walsh

The battle of these two fullbacks is key to the outcome of this match, as is the health of Tom Trbojevic. When fully fit, he is good enough to beat any football team by himself. Unfortunately, several injuries have plagued him since his trip to the USA to rehabilitate his hamstring. Reece Walsh struggled to have as big an impact last week compared to previous games, and the return of Mam and Haas will aid him immensely. If Trbojevic is fit and firing, this could be one of the highlights of the weekend.
