Round two of the Rugby League World Cup continues Sunday morning with the New Zealand Kiwis taking on Jamaica in just their second World Cup match of the nation’s history. Jamaica couldn’t be meeting the Kiwis at a worse time, having dismantled the Leeds Rhinos in a warm up before defeating a very brave Lebanon side in round one.

The Kiwis have made a number of changes bringing Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Isaac Liu, Moses Leota and Sebastian Kris into the side for Jordan Rapana, Joseph Tapine and Ronaldo Mulitalo, with Jesse Bromwich dropping back to the reserves. Jeremy Marshall-King and Scott Sorenson have also been named on the bench to make their Kiwi and World Cup debuts respectively.

Jamaica will find it almost impossible to keep with the Kiwis both physically and in the general rugby league skills department. This Kiwi’s side already has the hallmarks of a classic, tough, hard working Michael Maguire side which will be on full display against Jamaica. The only way to extract any type of value in this match is to back the Kiwis to -74.5 point line and the match to go above 82.5 total match points paying $2.40 with Palmerbet.

Try scoring will be relatively easy for this Kiwis side as they look to build on their already solid start to this World Cup. Both Dylan Brown and Briton Nikora will be running the ball as strong as they always are, going with their incredible footwork to break open this Jamaican defence. Look for both players to score 3+ tries each in this match paying ($1.31) and ($1.42) respectively with the top online bookmakers.

The bench rotation for the Kiwis looks as strong as it may have ever been given Sorenson and Marshall-King have had incredibly strong seasons for their respective clubs. Both have a rare ability to simply be in the right place at the right time to be able to score tries. Look for their minutes to be up in the match, and with that time, they will be bound to score a try.

KEY MATCH UP: THE BATTLE OF THE FORWARDS

The battle in the middle third of the field is where Jamaica will really need to stand up if they have any hope of holding out this New Zealand side. With James Fisher-Harris, Moses Leota, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Isaiah Papali’i in this forward pack, the Jamaicans will need to be physical in contact to give them any hope of slowing down New Zealand in the middle. While they will not be expected to match it with the Kiwis for 80 minutes, the longer Jamaica can stand up, the less damage they’ll suffer in this match.
