The Richmond Tigers will look to reclaim a spot inside the AFL’s top eight this Thursday night, as they take on the Port Adelaide Power at the MCG in a must-win clash.
Ken Hinkley’s Power got off to a rocky start early in the season, as they lost their first five matches before winning five of the next six.
A timely return from Dustin Martin has given the Tigers a huge boost heading into the second half of the season, but can the three-time Norm Smith Medallist get them into the top eight?
Damian Hardwick’s Richmond currently sit one win behind the Collingwood Magpies, but they have played one less match because of the rolling bye rounds.
A few important players are going to push for selection at punt road during the week, with Noah Balta and Kane Lambert almost certain starters, while Tom Lynch is still a week away.
There will not be any returning injured players for Port Adelaide this week, however Charlie Dixon is building his confidence with every passing match and looks ready to tear this contest apart.
The Power were good enough to win last season’s contest against the Tigers at the Adelaide Oval, but can they get the job done at the MCG?

Key matchup: Jayden Short vs Connor Rozee
Sometimes a simple change from one position to another can turn a player from average to important, but in the case of Jayden Short and Connor Rozee, both players have turned into elite superstars. Short moved from half back to the midfield this season and has started averaging career-high numbers, while Rozee is having a similar impact upon spending more time in the middle.
Both players are prodigious kicks of the footy, which allows them to break games open through the middle, but we have been impressed with their ability to accumulate in recent weeks. Rozee has been very good for the Power in the last couple of months averaging almost 25 touches per game since round five. You can get behind either player with any online bookmaker to dominate the disposal count, but Rozee is the better choice in terms of value.
Richmond vs Port Adelaide betting strategy
The return of Noah Balta adds a very important dimension to the Richmond structure, as it allows Nick Vlastuin to play a more aggressive intercepting role, which in turn allows Daniel Rioli and Jayden Short to spend more time up the ground. Although the Power look far better in recent weeks, the Tigers should have the firepower to get the win this Thursday night in a close battle.

Tigers vs Power AFL goalscorer betting tips
Jack Graham has been fantastic for the Tigers in their recent resurgence up the ladder, as the midfielder has kicked five goals in his last six outings, including two goals against the Swans in round 11. The big-bodied midfielder famously kicked three goals in the 2017 Grand Final in just his fifth AFL match, and he has been well-acquainted with the big sticks since. Graham is yet to kick a behind this season and should get involved in the forward half once again.

Richmond vs Port Adelaide AFL same-game multi tips
We anticipate Jack Graham will do some damage up the ground and steal important win for Richmond, while Connor Rozee will star up the ground for the underdogs in a valiant effort.
