Richmond come into their round eight match against Collingwood following a demolition job in the West, but can they keep the momentum rolling at the MCG this Saturday?
The Richmond Tigers bared their claws against the hapless Eagles in round eight, delivering a 109-point drubbing. AFL betting markets, in their often-limited wisdom, set the line at around 10 points. We got on early at 9.5 in what was the 2022 season’s most generous slice of free money to date. The Tigers conducted a training drill at Optus Stadium, and West Coast could barely win the ball. Richmond have been without some of their biggest stars, but the under-estimation of this line was just something to behold. Richmond now sits just outside the top eight and will be confident their season is on the climb.
Collingwood kept their finals hopes alive with another fighting victory in round eight, dispatching the brave Suns by 25 points. The game hung in the balance until mid-way through the third quarter when the superior Magpie class lifted them over the line. Despite close victories over the lowly ranked Suns and Bombers, there is much to like about the Pies in 2022. They have numerous scoring options and plenty of keen young runners who are not scared to stretch their legs up the centre of the park. This confidence is testament to the coaching skills of Craig McRae who has taught his charges well. Stale, boring, play-it-safe footy is just bad for the game.

Key matchup: Bolton vs De Goey
We are huge fans of Richmond midfielder Shai Bolton. The 23-year-old shares dash and flair and backs himself to take the game on with ball in hand. He is fast, attacking, and loves to work forward and kick goals on the run. He amassed 30 disposals against the Eagles and booted three in a dominant display. We’ll match Bolton up with Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey, who averages 29 disposals when playing in the centre of the ground. De Goey is another speedy mid who loves to get up the ground and hit the scoreboard. It will be a pleasure to watch these guys do their thing.
Richmond vs Collingwood betting strategy
After being stung last week by the smart money, online bookmakers have installed the Tigers as warm favourites here. The line is still skinny, though, a familiar 10.5 points. As we go to print, Dustin Martin is listed on the injury list as ‘Personal – Test’. Whether or not he returns this week, we are sticking with the ascendant Tigers and will happily take them at -10.5 points.
Richmond -10.5
Richmond vs Collingwood same-game multi tips
For the value hunters, we will link the line bet with some other likely occurrences to extract additional value. Richmond -10.5, into Tom Lynch 2+ goals, into Shai Bolton 20+ disposals. This triple legged combo will return $3.93 courtesy of Ladbrokes and should salute if the Tigers hit their straps.
Richmond -10.5 / Lynch 2+ goals / Bolton 20+ disposals
