Can the Richmond Tigers pummel the West Coast Eagles for the second time this season, or will the visitors put up a better fight at the MCG this Sunday afternoon for round 16 of the 2022 AFL Premiership season?
The Richmond Tigers completely slaughtered the Eagles back in round seven earlier this year, posting a ridiculous score of 25.15.165 in what was a forgettable day for fans in the West.
A lot has changed since that round seven onslaught, as the Eagles enter this game coming off a victory whilst the Tigers were narrowly beaten by the Cats last weekend.
Nic Naitanui will return for the West Coast Eagles and provide them with a much-needed boost in the ruck, where they have essentially struggled the most throughout the season.
The Tigers welcome back Kane Lambert to replace Dion Prestia in the midfield, while Sydney Stack and Jason Castagna have been named on the extended bench.
With Nic Nat, Andrew Gaff, Tim Kelly and Luke Shuey all pulling on their boots this weekend for the Eagles, there is some hope the out-of-favour squad can push the Tigers and create a thrilling contest.
Key matchup: Elliot Yeo vs Dustin Martin
Both Elliot Yeo and Dustin Martin love to explode out of the midfield and do damage in the forward half of the ground, where they are very capable of setting up goals and kicking majors of their own. Yeo is more of a bash-and-crash operator for the Eagles, while Dusty has slowly moved away from the contested game into a classy outside ball-user.
The Eagles have named Yeo at centre half back this weekend, which may not be where he spends a majority of the game, but it means he may spend some time on Dustin Martin. Martin will park himself in the forward half at stages for the Tigers and could become one of their most dangerous options inside 50. Look out for the Brownlow Medallist to hit the scoreboard at the MCG.
Richmond Tigers vs West Coast Eagles betting tips
Richmond Tigers to win by 1-39
The value in this contest can be found if you take the Tigers by the 1-39 margin, as many pundits expect the Eagles will get blown out in another thrashing. We think the Eagles are going to be filled with excitement following their win over the Bombers last week, as the team has enough momentum to push the Tigers until the final siren.
Richmond Tigers 1-39
Dustin Martin goal kicking tips
Even though Dion Prestia has been ruled out of this contest, the Tigers have more than enough players to run through the midfield, which has turned Dustin Martin into a forward more so than a midfielder. The superstar has kicked 10 goals across his seven games this year and should keep up the goalkicking form.
Dustin 2+ Goals
Richmond v West Coast Same game multi picks
Dustin Martin and Tom Lynch will dominate inside 50 for the Tigers and lead them to a win against the Eagles, but it will not be another massive victory.
Richmond Tigers 1-39 / Martin 2+ goals / Lynch 3+ goals
