EPL Matchweek 7 betting

CAN Chelsea put a stop to Manchester City’s golden streak?

That is the big question that surrounds the upcoming round of English Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile, the rest of the top-end teams have excellent opportunities to pick up three points.

This week’s EPL odds come courtesy of CrownBet.com.au, where punters can score a $50 cash-back bonus on soccer multis that miss by only one leg.

Huddersfield Town vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Saturday, September 30, 2017 – 9:30pm AEST – John Smith’s Stadium

Huddersfield – $7.60
Draw – $4.70
Tottenham – $1.40

After such a bright start to the season, Huddersfield are now four games in the EPL without a victory.

Of real concern is that the Terriers have managed only two goals in five games since putting three past Crystal Palace on the opening weekend.

Tottenham might be struggling at Wembley, but a win in Yorkshire would make it four from four on the road this season.

Harry Kane has found his scoring touch after another quiet August, while Christian Eriksen should return to the team after missing midweek Champions League action with illness.

Spurs may need three points to hold their top-four status this week, and we are backing them in.

Chelsea vs. Manchester City

Sunday, October 1, 2017 – 3:30am AEST – Stamford Bridge

Chelsea – $2.60
Draw – $3.45
Man City – $2.62

Chelsea have hardly put a foot wrong since their first-round defeat to Burnley.

New boy Alvaro Morata, who has six goals in as many appearances in the league, will have paid off his transfer fee by Christmas if he continues at this rate.

Man City have been irresistible since the international break at the start of September, banging in 16 goals in only three games.

In Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Raheem Sterling, the Citizens boast enough attacking weapons to supply three or four top-flight clubs.

Money is coming for the Blues, no doubt due to news of Aguero’s involvement in a car accident this week, but we cannot look past a City side that is making football look stupid-easy right now.

Arsenal vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Sunday, October 1, 2017 – 10pm AEST – Emirates Stadium

Arsenal – $1.22
Draw – $6.20
Brighton – $12

Arsenal are on the cusp of what one might consider ‘good form’, and thanks in no small part to the goalscoring prowess of Alexandre Lacazette.

Unbeaten in three games now, the Gunners could sneak into the top four this weekend if things go awry for Spurs, Liverpool and Watford.

Brighton have run the gamut in their opening six games, veering from brave defeats to ecstatic wins and then back again.

The Seagulls have started finding the scorer’s sheet in recent weeks, which is why they have lost only one of their past four games.

Arsenal away is a tough proposition for any side, however, and we think Albion will struggle on this occasion.

Newcastle United vs. Liverpool

Monday, October 2, 2017 – 2:30am AEST – St James’ Park

Newcastle – $4.80
Draw – $3.90
Liverpool – $1.67

Newcastle were brought crashing back to the dirt at Brighton last week, losing 1-0 to end a run of three consecutive wins.

The Toon rely heavily on the likes of Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascalles at set pieces for their scoring opportunities, but that trait could come in handy as coach Rafa Benitez squares up against his old mob.

The Liverpool defence is on the crisis, not least because the goals are not always coming freely at the other end of the pitch.

At least Philippe Coutinho is back in earnest, while Mohamed Salah’s raw pace on the break is enough to give any fullback nightmares.

The Magpies will have their chances, but the Reds just have to win this.
