Paris 2024: Fox blows rivals away to claim Kayak Cross gold
There were three gold medals on offer in the women’s canoe slalom meet at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the Fox family made it a clean sweep as Noemie Fox claimed gold in the Women’s Kayak Cross Final.
Fox, the younger sister of C1 and K1 gold medallist Jessica Fox, never looked like getting beaten once she cleared the first upstream gate and leading the four-woman field down the Vaires-sur-Maine Nautical Stadium course.
Noemie was literally flawless throughout her entire Kayak Cross campaign, winning her Round 1 race, heat, quarterfinal, and semifinal before being crowned Olympic champion.
It’s the first time the Kayak Cross women’s final has been held at the Olympics, and much like in the inaugural C1 event in Tokyo, the last name Fox will forever be etched into Olympic history.
With dad Richard Fox in commentary, mum and coach Myriam, alongside sister Jessica were screaming their support down the course, and once Noemie turned for home, it was celebrations all around once again for the Fox family.
Fox’s gold medal continues Australia’s breathtaking start to the Olympics, with 13 gold medals already collected.
