Paris 2024: Arisa Trew claims historic gold in Women’s Park Final

Australian Paris Olympics news

Records were rewritten as Australia’s Arisa Trew claimed gold in the Women’s Park Final skateboarding event at the Paris Olympics.

At just 14, Trew is officially Australia’s youngest ever gold medallist and did so with a performance well beyond her years.

Based on the Gold Coast, Trew produced a flawless third and final run with a score of 93.18, holding off two of the best skateboarders in the world in Japan’s Kokona Hiraki (92.63) and Great Britain’s Sky Brown (92.31).

Trew’s performance surpasses Sandra Morgan’s record as Australia’s youngest ever gold medallist.

Morgan claimed gold at 14 years and 184 days old when winning the 4x100m freestyle relay event at the Melbourne 1956 Olympics alongside Dawn Fraser.

Trew catapulted herself into Olympic gold contention when claiming gold at the 2023 X Games.

Ranked 14th in the world prior to the Olympics, Arisa Trew joins Keegan Palmer as Australia’s Olympic gold medallist in skateboarding.
