Friday night football kicks into top gear for prime time from 7:55pm in Penrith as the Panthers host the Sydney Roosters. There will be NSW Origin stars galore when James Tedesco, Nathan Cleary, Jarome Luai and Isaah Yeo take the field following their game two win.
Tedesco will be looking to lead his team into the back end of the season and string wins together for the Roosters in the hope of climbing back into the top eight. Meanwhile, the Penrith Panthers continue to march towards their second minor premiership in three years. Can the Roosters steal a win over the 2022 NRL premiership favourites?
Both the Panthers and Roosters will have not only Origin representatives, but Internationals back in their starting sides after a huge round of representative football. Victor Radley has also been named to return in the starting lock forward role for the Roosters, which is much earlier than originally expected. The Roosters were beaten comprehensively when they last faced the Panthers, and this looks likely to occur again, as the Panthers should win by 13+ points at $1.70.
With strike weapons like Izack Tago, Taylan May, and Brian To’o coming off of a huge weekend in representative footy, one Panther will be primed and ready for a big performance against the Roosters. Dylan Edwards is one of the most underrated fullbacks in the NRL and will be one day mentioned as being unfortunate to have played in the James Tedesco era.
Edwards would not be out of place in any representative side, most notably the NSW Blues. Look for Edwards to stamp his name as one of the games best fullbacks by taking it to Tedesco and scoring a try at any time paying $2.50 with online bookmakers.
The Roosters look likely to struggle scoring points with Luke Keary missing through concussion protocols and stars who could be feeling the hangover of representative football. This could see the Roosters struggle to exceed 10 total points for the team, paying $1.67. If that does in fact happen, the flow on effect will be felt in the total match points. This will be compacted if the rainfall that’s predicted in Sydney does occur, and the total match points are below 41.5 at $1.90.
Key Match Up: Dylan Edwards v James Tedesco
The battle of these fullbacks has already been highlighted but cannot go unnoticed. Tedesco and Edwards are very similar moulds of footballers with their high work rates from the back field, however, there is one key difference between the two. Tedesco has a much higher ceiling when it comes to his attacking upside, with his ability to create offense from absolutely nothing. Edwards is and will always be a threat in this Panthers side, and if he is able to bridge this gap between himself and Tedesco, will be the decider in how many points the Panthers win by.
