Round 5: Dolphins vs Wests Tigers match preview
Super Saturday football for round five of the NRL Premiership wraps up in Brisbane with the Dolphins hosting the Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium.
Both sides have won their last two matches, with the Dolphins belting the Dragons and Titans. The Tigers have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2024 season, beating the Sharks at Leichhardt Oval and the Eels at CommBank Stadium in the last fortnight.
Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett will be without Max Plath (suspended) but welcomes back Ray Stone to the starting side.
Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall will be without his teenaged five-eighth Lachlan Galvin (suspended) following his sickening hip-drop tackle on Eels forward Kelma Tuilagi. Jayden Sullivan has been promoted to the starting side in the halves, with Latu Fainu named to make his NRL debut from the interchange. Alex Twal will also come off the bench in place of Asu Kepaoa.

Dolphins vs Wests Tigers betting predictions
The Tigers have lost nine of their last 10 away matches, and the loss of Galvin will not help them improve on that record. On the other hand, the Dolphins have won five of their last six matches, covering the points line on each occasion. The home side should be able to beat the -4.5 handicap at $1.90 with the top NRL bookmakers.
Jamayne Isaako has started the 2024 season in brilliant form. Last weekend against the Titans, the winger had one line break, nine tackle breaks and over 190m with the ball without scoring. He has, however, scored a try in seven of the Dolphins’ last nine matches, and he is a decent value bet at $1.83 to cross at any time against Wests.
Jack Bostock was the standout last weekend for the Dolphins with two line breaks, six tackle breaks and a pair of tries. He has improved greatly over the off-season, becoming a stronger player physically as well as improving his finishing skills in the corner. At $2.15, with punters can still get great odds for Bostock to be an anytime tryscorer.
