New punter strikes gold with $22k haul on nine-leg AFL multi
BOOKMAKERS are still reeling after punters collected millions on Jeff Horn’s upset win against Manny Pacquiao on Sunday.
But ‘The Hornet’ was not the only Aussie underdog to cause the bookies grief over the weekend.
Sportsbet.com.au has released details concerning one lucky punter who turned $10 into more than $22,000.
According to the online betting firm, it was the customer’s first wager after opening a brand new account.
The anonymous tipster wizard struck gold by bundling every AFL match of round 15 into a nine-leg multi bet.

They did not miss a beat, even predicting Essendon’s shock loss to bottom-of-the-ladder Brisbane Lions at +600 odds.
The return would have been bigger still had Tom Hawkins kicked truly after the siren to give Geelong the win over Greater Western Sydney.
Instead it ended in a draw, which cut the final payout from $44,360 down to $22,180.
Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen said: “What a way to christen your account with a nine-leg multi winning more than $22,000!
“We may have unearthed the next great punter in the process, but that’ll be a hard act to follow.”
How a $10 first bet turned into $22,180.92:
Sydney Swans – +100
West Coast – +175
Adelaide – -333.33
Gold Coast – -117.65
Geelong – +215
Richmond – +262
Brisbane Lions – +600
Hawthorn – +102
St Kilda – +108
