NBL Round 9 betting preview, free tips & predictions
The 2024/25 NBL season continues this weekend with six exciting matchups. Here are our free basketball betting tips for every game of Round 9.
Tasmanian JackJumpers vs Brisbane Bullets
Friday, November 15 – 7:30pm AEDT – MyState Bank Arena
Having won just two of their last eight games, the ninth-placed JackJumpers enter Round 9 as unlikely home favourites against the Bullets. At 3-5, Brisbane sit just one spot above the Tasmanians, but given they have won three of their last five games, the Bullets are on the up. Although the JackJumpers got the chocolates when these teams met three weeks ago, they hold the worst offensive record in the NBL, so expect a close contest.
Brisbane Bullets +4.5
Perth Wildcats vs South East Melbourne Phoenix
Friday, November 15 – 6:30pm AWST – RAC Arena
After a 0-5 start to the season, South East Melbourne have turned their season around, winning five of their last seven. Included in those wins was an upset in Perth at the start of November. With the Wildcats struggling for consistency, the visitors should do enough to keep it close at least.
SEM Phoenix +4.5
Cairns Taipans vs New Zealand Breakers
Saturday, November 16 – 4:30pm AEST – Cairns Convention Centre
New Zealand have been the surprise packet of the NBL season so far, as their league-leading defence has taken them to 6-3. On the other hand, it has been a horror start for the Taipans, who are on a seven-match slide. It would take a rapid turnaround for Cairns to be competitive in this one.
NZ Breakers -4.5
Illawarra Hawks vs Sydney Kings
Saturday, November 16 – 8pm AEDT – WIN Entertainment Centre
With two wins in a row, the Kings are climbing back up the standings after a slow start to the season. Sydney head to Wollongong as slight favourites with top NBL bookmakers, given they have won their last six games at the venue. The Hawks have lost three of their last four games and will need to tighten up on defence if they are going to break the streak.
Sydney Kings -1.5
Melbourne United vs Adelaide 36ers
Sunday, November 17 – 2:30pm AEDT – John Cain Arena
In the blockbuster matchup of the weekend, first-placed Melbourne United will be looking to continue their dominant season as they face off against the 36ers. Led by the star trio of Montrezl Harrell, Kendric Davis and Dejan Vasiljevic, Adelaide have won six of their last eight games. But one of those losses came against Melbourne, and with Chris Goulding coming off a 46-point performance last Saturday, this should be an exciting contest.
Melbourne United -4.5
Brisbane Bullets vs Perth Wildcats
Sunday, November 17 – 3:30pm AEST – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
In their second games of the weekend, both Perth and Brisbane could have an excellent opportunity to double up. While their form is similar, the Wildcats have dominated the head-to-head ledger in recent times. The Bullets have won just once at home this season, which suggests this is anyone’s game.
