NBL Round 10 preview, tips & predictions
The NBL continues this weekend with six matches of quality Australian basketball. See our top betting tips for round 10 of the 2023-24 NBL season.
Cairns Taipans vs Sydney Kings
Thursday, December 7 – 6:30pm AEST – Cairns Convention Centre
Having dropped to fourth place, the Sydney Kings need to return to form when they face a dangerous Taipans side in Cairns. Despite winning just one of their past four matches, the Taipans are coming off an impressive win over the first-placed Melbourne United last weekend. Watch out for star Taipans guard Patrick Miller as he faces a highly anticipated matchup with Kings jet Jaylen Adams.
Illawarra Hawks vs Perth Wildcats
Friday, December 8 – 7:30pm AEDT – WIN Entertainment Centre
The Perth Wildcats will be looking to continue their win streak this weekend when they face the last-placed Illawarra Hawks. Winners of their last six matches, the Wildcats have climbed up the rankings on the back of excellent performances from MVP favourite Bryce Cotton and NBA prospect Alexandre Sarr. The Wildcats have won their last three meetings with the Hawks and should be confident of a result against this struggling Illawarra side.
New Zealand Breakers vs Tasmania JackJumpers
Saturday, December 9 – 7:30pm NZDT – Spark Arena
After climbing up to second in the NBL standings last weekend, the JackJumpers will be full of confidence as they head across the Tasman. Spreading their offensive output across the floor, the JackJumpers are hard to stop due to their range of scoring options. The Breakers have been inconsistent this season, alternating wins and losses to sit in eighth position; however, three of their four wins have come at home.
Adelaide 36ers vs Cairns Taipans
Saturday, December 9 – 7:30pm ACDT – Adelaide Entertainment Arena
The Taipans have a quick turnaround as they face the struggling Adelaide 36ers in their second match of the week. The 36ers, sitting ninth, have won just one of their past five matches and suffered an embarrassing 35-point loss last weekend. Each of the last three matches between these sides has been decided by three points, so expect another close encounter this weekend.
Melbourne United vs Brisbane Bullets
Sunday, December 10 – 2pm AEDT – John Cain Arena
Melbourne United will be keen to bounce back from their shock loss to the Taipans as they welcome the Brisbane Bullets to John Cain Arena. Still two games clear atop the NBL ladder, there is no cause for concern, but with two losses in their past four games they will be looking to improve. The Bullets present a dangerous proposition after two consecutive wins, but they sit 7-7 on the season and will need to continue winning to make a push for finals.
Sydney Kings vs South East Melbourne Phoenix
Sunday, December 10 – 4pm AEDT – Qudos Bank Arena
Wrapping up round 10, the Sydney Kings play their second match of the weekend as they welcome the SEM Phoenix. With these sides sitting fourth and fifth respectively in the standings, expect an entertaining clash of styles as the strong guard roster of the Kings faces the forward-centre duo of Mitch Creek and Alan Williams. With neither side in the greatest form, this is a critical match for both as they search for a top-two position.
