Multi tips and bookie free bets for the A-League week 14
IT seems we have a two-horse race on our hands for the 2017 A-League title.
Sydney FC and the Melbourne Victory are streaking at the top of the table, and for all intents and purposes, the rest of the competition is playing for third place.
The Sky Blues are still undefeated after three months of football. They are scoring at will and are justifiably the $3.60 favourites at Sportsbet.com.au to win the A-League title.
Hot on their heels are the Victory, who are on a four game winning streak but are still seven points adrift of the top placed Sydney FC.
The Victory are $3.75 second favourites for the title at Sportsbet.
Unless the rest of the competition can close the gap it seems we will be seeing a Big Blue Grand Final in the A-League this season.
We are not worried about the future right now however, we are only looking to this weekend. The team at BettingSite.com.au have put together a multi for round 14 that is not only rock solid, but also yields a great return.
All odds for the 14th week of the A-League season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au, who is offering punters a fantastic inducement for those yet to sign up.
Free selections for the Round 14 A-League multi:
Melbourne City to defeat Western Sydney Wanderers ($1.85)
Brisbane Roar to beat Newcastle Jets ($1.65)
Melbourne Victory to beat Adelaide United ($2.10)
Sydney FC to win against Central Coast Mariners ($1.40)
Combined multi value: $8.97 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Melbourne City vs. Western Sydney Wanderers
Friday, January 6 from 7.50 pm AEDST AAMI Park, Melbourne
Two of the A-League’s glamour clubs lock horns on Friday night as the desperate Wanderers travel down to Melbourne to face City.
City are looking to get back on the winners list after two draws against opposition they should have beaten in the form of the Glory at home and the Mariners on New Year’s Eve.
The Melbournians also have to contend with the departure of manager John Van’ Schip, who left the club at the beginning of the week due to family commitments.
Western Sydney is looking to get their first win in over a month. The Wanderers are still sixth on the ladder and in finals contention despite not winning since the beginning of December.
City will be looking to give their former manager the send-off he deserves. We are backing Melbourne City to kick off our multi in the right fashion.
Melbourne City to win – $1.85
Brisbane Roar vs. Newcastle Jets
Saturday, January 7 from 5.35 pm AEDST, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Two teams looking to get back on track after disappointing loses meet in the sunshine state as the Jets fly to Brisbane to face the Roar.
The Roar were dismal last week against Sydney FC. The men in orange conceded two goals early in the match but had over 30 minutes of game time with a one man advantage after Alex Brosque was shown his second yellow card. Disappointingly they failed to score.
The Jets were absolutely demolished by Melbourne Victory 4-2. The two goals that Newcastle scored belied just how dominant the big V were.
This is the perfect bounce back game for Brisbane. Before last week’s loss they had not tasted defeat since round 2. The Roar are a genuine title threat if they can put it all together, and Saturday should be the stepping stone to getting their season back on track.
Brisbane Roar to win – $1.65
Adelaide United vs. Melbourne Victory
Saturday, January 7 from 7.50 pm AEDST, Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
Two of the A-League’s original rivals meet on Saturday night in the form of Adelaide United and the Melbourne Victory.
The Victory are the best performing team right now in the competition and are playing on Saturday night for a fifth win in a row. Melbourne has scored 13 goals across the last four games, only one of which Besart Berisha failed to score in.
Berisha is $2.63 at Sportsbet.com.au to score at any time on Saturday night.
Adelaide United have registered just one point in the last four rounds of football. Their title defence is all but over given they sit three points adrift of the second last placed Mariners on the bottom of the table.
WilliamHill.com.au has the Reds at $34 to successfully defend their A-League title.
This one looks like a formality to us. The Victory should extend their winning run to five.
Melbourne Victory to win – $2.10
Central Coast Mariners vs. Sydney FC
Sunday, January 8 from 5 pm AEDST, Central Coast Stadium, Gosford
The unbeaten Sydney FC travel down the highway to face the second from the bottom Central Coast Mariners.
Sydney is on a three game winning streak which has seen them score ten goals from the last three matches.
The Mariners have failed to win in their last five matches, and have only taken one point from that period.
Despite being three points clear of the bottom placed Adelaide United, Central Coast is the $2.10 favourite at Sportsbet.com.au to win the 2016/17 A-League wooden spoon.
Sydney FC have dominated their Sunday opponents over the years.
The Mariners have registered just one point from the last five matches against the Sky Blues, and it is hard to see them amassing another on Sunday.
Sydney’s unbeaten run should live on and our multi should salute in style.
