Michael Ahearne quits GiG to focus on SkyCity obligations

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) board member Michael Ahearne has resigned as a director in order to concentrate on his role as CEO of SkyCity Entertainment Group in New Zealand and Australia.

Ahearne became a member of the board on April 1 of last year as a result of SkyCity Entertainment Group’s acquisition of Sportnco Gaming SAS and their subsequent status as a shareholder in GiG.

As part of the board of directors, Ahearne was tasked with supervising the procedures and operations of the company to ensure that they were conducting their activities properly and following the standards without any breaches.

Upon his resignation The former member of the board of directors has made reports on how he is impressed with the development of the franchise.

“Ahearne has closely followed the development of GiG during this period and is pleased with GiG’s operations and the Company’s position within the igaming industry,” GiG stated.

GiG also noted that SkyCity will continue to have a representative on GiG’s nominating committee and will take part in the process of recommending a board of directors at the company’s yearly shareholder meeting, which is scheduled for May.

“SkyCity is represented in GiG’s nomination committee and will participate to propose a board composition to the annual meeting of shareholders in May that has an adequate breadth of competence, experience and background and will contribute to a continued positive development for GiG,” a statement from GiG read.

“The Board of Directors thanks Michael for his contribution to the company.”

The current board members now consist of Chairman Petter Nylander and directors Nicolas Adlercreutz, Kathryn Moore Baker, Hessi Mocca, Mikael Riese Harstad and Kjetil Garstad.
