Melbourne Storm’s last-minute heroics secure 18-13 over Roosters
In an exhilarating NRL match, the Melbourne Storm clinched a thrilling 18-13 victory against the Sydney Roosters thanks to a try by Will Warbrick in the second last minute of the game.
This decisive play propelled the Melbourne Storm into the quarter-finals, where they will face off against the Penrith Panthers. The game was characterised by competition as a low-scoring affair, with both teams giving their all.
Despite the Roosters taking a 13-12 lead with nine minutes remaining, it was ultimately the Storm who had the say. A pivotal moment occurred in the half when referee Ashley Klein failed to notice a knock-on by Melbourne’s Harry Grant.
This controversial decision resulted in a penalty for the Storm and eventually led to Marion Seve scoring a try, bringing their lead to 10-0.
Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson expressed his frustration over the missed call, stating, “It was evident that it was dropped. He was there. It hit the ground.”
However, he acknowledged that crucial moments are vital, in finals matches and admitted that his team should have defended better. Despite this situation, the Roosters fought back valiantly, with Sam Walker scoring a one-point field goal to briefly take them into a lead. However, the incredible catch and try by Will Warbrick in the dying moments of the game ensured victory for the Storm, leaving the Roosters devastated.
Coach Craig Bellamy of the Melbourne Storm commended Warbrick’s performance, acknowledging his progress throughout his debut season with the team.
The Storms extraordinary win keeps their season alive as they prepare to face the Penrith Panthers in the quarterfinal, where they are currently +400 odds with the top betting sites to defeat the minor premiers.
