Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers BBL13 preview
The Big Bash League season continues on Saturday night as the in-form Melbourne Stars host the Sydney Sixers at the MCG.
After a shocking start to the BBL13 season, the Melbourne Stars have completely reversed their fortunes by winning their past four matches. Most recently, they beat the Melbourne Renegades by eight wickets, headed by an excellent all-around effort from Glenn Maxwell. The Stars’ captain has had an excellent tournament so far, leading the side for wickets and is second for runs, guiding them home in two of their four wins. With the turn-around in form, the Stars are now a genuine finals contender, sitting in fourth spot in the standings.
Sat above the Stars on net run rate, the Sydney Sixers have been impressive so far this tournament but will feel unlucky with the conditions, as they have had their past three matches all affected by rain. The Sixers have one of the most well-rounded lineups in the Big Bash, with four of their top five batsmen scoring over 100 runs so far. Their fast-bowling attack is also excellent, as all-rounder Jack Edwards has improved drastically from previous seasons to lead the wickets alongside Jackson Bird.

Melbourne Stars vs Adelaide Sixers betting predictions
After their upset win over the Sixers at the SCG earlier in the Tournament, the Stars now come into this match as slight favourites. Last time the sides played each other, it was the Pakistani pair of Usama Mir and Haris Rauf who did the damage with the ball. But with their stints in the BBL finished, the much weaker bowling attack may struggle against the depth of the Sixers batting. The Sixers’ bowling attack is also full of quality pace and spin options. Although there is the threat of an game-changing individual effort from Glenn Maxwell, the Sixers should still be too strong here at -107.53 with Playup.
Leading the Stars for runs this season, Stars’ all-rounder Beau Webster has now been promoted up to number three. In matches where the Stars have struggled with the bat, Webster has been the anchor of the innings, with his ability to stay at the crease keeping the Stars in the match. He averages 44.5 so far this tournament and we like him to continue his good form with another solid knock of 20+ at -123.46 at the top online bookmakers.
For the Sixers, they are playing at their best when their top order is scoring runs, most notably wicket-keeper Josh Phillipe. The opener scored 41 last match and should have too much quality for the underwhelming Stars pace attack. A 360-degree player who will have the advantage of the powerplay, we like Phillipe to lead the Sixers at +300 with the leading cricket betting sites.
