Massu and Lendl join Hurkacz ahead of 2025 Tennis Campaign
Hubert Hurkacz has joined forces with Nicolas Massu and Ivan Lendl ahead of the 2025 tennis season, with the Pole announcing the new coaching arrangement on Friday.
The 27-year-old has been coach-less since splitting with long-time coach Craig Boynton, who helped him to eight career titles and a career-high of No.6 in the world.
“Having Nicolas Massu and Ivan Lendl as part of my team is an honour,” Hurkacz said.
“Their knowledge and dedication inspire me to work harder than ever, and I’m ready to put in the hard work.
“I’m excited and optimistic for season 2025 and beyond.
“This has been a year of ups and downs.
“I’ve learned a lot and grown a lot, and I can finally say I am fully healthy and ready for the challenges ahead.”
Hurkacz has had a challenging 2024 season, with a hip injury sidelining him for large swathes of the year and his ranking falling to No.16.
His powerful first serve and strong net game make the Pole a title contender when he is fit and healthy, however, and tennis bookmakers still consider him an outside chance for several of next year’s Grand Slams.
PlayUp puts Hurkacz on the eighth line of betting ahead of Wimbledon 2025 ($34) and as a $51 dark horse at January’s Australian Open.
“I’m very motivated and happy to begin this new chapter working with Hubi (Hurkacz),” said Massu of his new appointment.
“He is not only a great person but also a true professional.
“I’m excited to join his team and believe that together we can achieve great things.
“I’m also looking forward to starting the pre-season in Florida alongside Ivan.”
Both Massu and Lendl have strong tennis resumes.
Massu coaching Dominic Thiem to the 2020 US Open title and holds an Olympic gold medal of his own, while Lendl has claimed eight Grand Slams as a player and coached Andy Murray to three major crowns.
