Mark Hunt’s lawsuit against UFC, Dana White & Brock Lesnar dismissed
After a battle spanning six years, the lawsuit filed by Mark Hunt against the UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar has finally come to a close.
U.S. District Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey dismissed Hunt’s case due to a lack of evidence supporting his allegations of fraud, battery, and conspiracy.
The lawsuit originated from Hunt’s fight against Brock Lesnar at UFC 200 in July 2016, where Lesnar tested positive for banned substances.
Back in 2017, Hunt initially brought forth the lawsuit, claiming that the UFC and its leadership knowingly allowed Lesnar to compete despite his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
Although the case was initially dismissed in 2019, it was revived on appeal in 2021.
However, Judge Dorsey’s recent ruling has again dismissed Hunt’s claims.
In her 27-page opinion, Judge Dorsey explained that Hunt’s fraud theories were based on assumptions and disregarded evidence, making it impossible for a jury to rule in his favour.
The victory Brock Lesnar achieved over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 was overshadowed by his failed drug tests, resulting in the fight being declared a no-contest.
Following his departure from the promotion after five fights with a record of one win and four losses under his belt, Mark Hunt retired from MMA.
Hunt briefly pursued boxing. Despite facing challenges and career obstacles, Hunt never wavered in his relentless pursuit of justice within the sport.
However, this recent ruling seems to signal the end of his saga against the UFC, Dana White, and Brock Lesnar. The outcome of the lawsuit has sparked a range of reactions within the MMA community.
Some individuals express disappointment over Hunt’s claims being dismissed, while others believe that the judge made a decision based on the presented evidence.
Regardless, the resolution of this protracted legal battle signifies a milestone in sports history.
