La Liga’s Matchday 14 is here with 10 matches of top-quality Spanish football action. Here is our preview and top soccer betting tips for this weekend’s slate.
Deportivo Alaves vs Granada
Saturday, November 25 – 7am AEDT – Estadio de Mendizorroza
Kicking off Matchday 14 is a key relegation clash between Deportivo Alaves and Granada. With four points from their last three matches, Alaves have now pulled themselves out of the drop zone up to 15th. Granada sit 19th on the table with just one win all season, but with just one defeat in their last nine matches against Alaves, they are a strong chance of an upset.
Granada to win
Rayo Vallecano vs Barcelona
Sunday, November 26 – 12am AEDT – Estadio de Vallecas
After an eight-match unbeaten run, Rayo Vallecano finally tasted defeat as they went down 2-1 to first-placed Girona. Unfortunately for them, they face another challenging matchup this weekend as they welcome Barcelona. The Catalan giants lost the most recent matchup between these sides and will be keen to continue their title push with a commanding win this weekend.
Barcelona to win
Valencia vs Celta Vigo
Sunday, November 26 – 2:15am AEDT – Estadio de Mestalla
Following their solid start to the season, Valencia were given a reality check as they went down 5-1 to Real Madrid last week. However, they have an excellent opportunity to bounce back against the 18th-placed Celta Vigo. After going down to a 98th-minute penalty in their last match, Celta will be keen to bounce back, although they haven’t won at the Mestalla since 2016.
Valencia to win
Getafe vs Almeria
Sunday, November 26 – 4:30am AEDT – Estadio Coliseum
Having a midseason resurgence after a terrible start to the season, Getafe are now undefeated through seven matches. They look set to continue this run against a struggling Almeria side that cannot stop conceding this season. Look for the dangerous Borja Mayoral to lead the way for Getafe in a match they should win comfortably.
Borja Mayoral anytime goalscorer
Atletico Madrid vs Mallorca
Sunday, November 26 – 7am AEDT – Estadio Civitas Metropolitano
Entrenched in a top-four battle, Atletico Madrid will be looking to continue their winning ways when they host the battling Mallorca this weekend. The second-best defence in La Liga coming up against a Mallorca side with no goals over its last three matches, expect Atletico to have a comfortable day in defence. Atleti’s attack should be able to create enough chances to get on the board, but it won’t be a high-scoring affair.
Under 2.5 total goals
Villarreal vs Osasuna
Monday, November 27 – 12am AEDT – Estadio de la Ceramica
This match is an excellent opportunity for two underachieving teams to get themselves back in contention for a top-six position. Villarreal enter this matchup coming off consecutive losses, while Osasuna are winless in their last three. We have to back the home side, which has won the last two matchups between these teams.
Villarreal to win
Real Sociedad vs Sevilla
Monday, November 27 – 2:15am AEDT – Reale Arena
One of the most in-form sides in La Liga and across European competition, Real Sociedad have proven quite the surprise packet to start the season. Sitting sixth on the table, Sociedad possess one of the more potent attacks in the league. The underwhelming Sevilla have not won an away match all season and look unlikely to do so here.
Real Sociedad to win
Cadiz vs Real Madrid
Monday, November 27 – 4:30am AEDT – Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla
In the midst of a title fight, Real Madrid need to keep winning matches despite the multitude of injuries affecting their squad. After losing star forward Vinicius Jr to an injury sustained on international duty, they will need to find ways to replace his scoring impact. Look for Joselu to be the main attacking option against a battling Cadiz outfit that will not offer much of a threat.
Joselu anytime goalscorer
Real Betis vs Las Palmas
Monday, November 27 – 7am AEDT – Estadio Benito Villamarin
Seventh-placed Betis host eighth-placed Las Palmas as they battle for a top-six position. Betis are undefeated across their last eight matches, while Las Palmas have won four of their last six. As a promoted side, Las Palmas are defying all expectations as the second-best defence in La Liga. However, Betis should be confident of a result at home.
Real Betis to win
Girona vs Athletic Bilbao
Tuesday, November 28 – 7am AEDT – Estadi Montilivi
Girona will look to continue their stay at the top of the table when they face the fifth-placed Athletic Club at home. Continuing to win against the odds, Girona are showing that they are one of the most unique sides in Europe as they score plenty of goals every week. Athletic Bilbao are also having a great season, but they have conceded more goals than any side in the top eight. The offensive power of Girona should be too much for the Basque side as the Catalan underdogs continue their impressive run.
Girona to win
