Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco NFL Super Bowl Preview
The most anticipated event in American sports is here on Monday morning as NFL Super Bowl 58 kicks off between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. A rematch of the 2020 contest, will the Chiefs establish a dynasty with their third title in five years? Or will the 49ers get their revenge, winning their first title since 1994?
As part of the Super Bowl for the fourth time in the past five seasons, the Chiefs are regulars on the biggest stage. But that doesn’t tell the whole story, as their 11-6 regular season record was the worst since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback. A 26-7 win over the Dolphins saw their playoff campaign get off to a hot start, before Mahomes secured a win in his first ever playoff game on the road with a thrilling 27-24 win over the Bills.
Facing the #1 seed Ravens on the road in the Conference Championship, the Chiefs came in as underdogs against one of the most dynamic offences in the NFL. But with all the expectations of a shootout between arguably the best two QBs in the league, it was the Chiefs defence that stood up, limiting the Ravens to just 10 points as they got the win 17-10. While it is Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce that will generate all the headlines, the Chiefs wouldn’t have come this far if not for the excellent defensive performances throughout the playoffs.
It was a different story for the 49ers to get to the Super Bowl as the #1 team in the NFC; the San Francisco team has been favoured in every single game they have played this season. With second-year player Brock Purdy at quarterback, the 49ers have had the cap space to create a team full of playmakers across every position. After earning a week off in the first week of the playoffs, the 49ers secured a comeback 24-21 win over the Packers in the Divisional round.
It couldn’t have started much worse for the 49ers in the Conference Championships, as they went down 24-7 at half-time to the Detroit Lions. But a 27-point unanswered run to start the second half showed their quality as they emerged 34-31 winners. As always, running back Christian McCaffrey was a standout with 130 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. While the 49ers have looked shaky in both their playoff games so far, in a team with this many difference makers, they are always bound to fight back.
NFL Super Bowl Betting Tips
San Francisco To Win
In a Super Bowl played in Las Vegas between two of the great sides, picking a winner is tough, but we are guaranteed a great spectacle. On one side, it’s Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who have broken plenty of records and are destined to break more. Mahomes has never lost at Allegiant Stadium, and how can you bet against someone who continuously succeeds in the NFL. With the form of their defence and the unstoppable partnership between Mahomes and Kelce, we know what to expect from the Chiefs.
On the other hand, we have the 49ers who have star-power across their offence, defence and even special teams. Brock Purdy under centre has continued to prove doubters wrong all season and with weapons such as McCaffrey, Kittle, Samuel, Aiyuk and Juszczyk any offensive struggles can be overcome with just one big play. Their defensive stars such as Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw will make life tough for the Chiefs on offence.
Coming in as slight bookmaker favourites for a reason, we are backing the 49ers here who will get revenge for their defeat four years ago at $1.77 with Bet365.

Over 47.5 Total Points
After last year’s thrilling 38-35 victory over the Eagles, the Chiefs offence showed their ability on the big stage. Expecting similar things this year, it is hard to see this match going any other way but a shootout. The Niners have scored over 30 points in six of their past seven matches, whilst the Chiefs with Mahomes are certain to make an impact on the scoreboard. With the line set at 47.5 points we are taking the over here at -111.11 with top NFL bookmakers.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks
Looking at touchdown scorers here, there isn’t much value in Christian McCaffrey or Travis Kelce as the leading targets on each side so we look for other options.
For the Chiefs, a player to watch is Rashee Rice. The first-year receiver has had an excellent start to his NFL career and quickly became the WR1 for the Chiefs. With 223 yards so far this post season, Rice has 39 fewer yards than Travis Kelce with just two fewer targets, proving how important he is to Mahomes. He is also the only other Chief than Kelce to catch a receiving TD in the playoffs, adding to his seven on the year so far. At +140 with Playup, Rice offers great value to get over the line.

For the 49ers, an exciting option is tight end George Kittle. One of the premier tight ends in the NFL, Kittle is bound to play a big role as the most experienced player in this offence. With both Chiefs cornerbacks having exceptional seasons so far, expect Purdy to look for his big man in the end zone. With 108 yards and a TD in the playoffs so far, we like Kittle as a value pick at +175 with Picklebet.
