Kangaroos reveal extended squad for Pacific Championships
Australia have announced their 31-man extended squad ahead of next month’s Rugby League Pacific Championships, where the Kangaroos will take on Tonga in their first Test of the year.
Coach Mal Meninga is yet to formally announce his team, but NRL clubs have been informed which of their players will be called upon to represent their country.
Seven of the 31 players are new additions, with Jacob Kiraz, Connor Watson, Zac Lomax, Xavier Coates, Mitchell Barnett, Mitchell Moses and Tom Dearden all uncapped for the Kangaroos.
As expected, both the Storm and Panthers have heavy representation in the squad, with seven players between them.
Two players from these clubs are in doubt for international duty, however, as both Nathan Cleary and Cameron Munster are set to have surgery following the conclusion of the NRL season.
No players from the Cronulla Sharks, Gold Coast Titans or Wests Tigers will be required for the Pacific Championships, which kick off on October 18 in Brisbane.
