India v England 2nd Test preview
England aims to exploit India’s vulnerability in the second Test at Visakhapatnam to seize control of the five-match series this Friday.
In an impressive comeback during the first Test at Hyderabad, Ben Stokes’ team secured a remarkable victory after trailing by 190 runs in the first innings. Notably, Ollie Pope delivered an outstanding innings, narrowly missing a well-deserved double century in challenging sub-continental conditions.
In the pursuit of 231 for victory, debutant left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, recovering from a tough first-innings performance, played a pivotal role, claiming impressive figures of 7/62 to bowl England to triumph.
With a chance to assert dominance in the series, England remains cautious, considering India’s past resilience on their home turf in 2021, where they initially led before succumbing to a 3-1 defeat.
Both teams face injury challenges in the second Test, with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ruled out for the hosts, while Jack Leach will be absent for the tourists.

India v England betting tips
It is hard to see India coughing up two losses in a row at home, despite the challenge that England’s “Bazball” possesses. India were in a dominant position in the third innings, before a breathtaking knock from Ollie Pope. Despite losing KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, on top of the already absent Virat Kohli, it seems as though there is plenty going against India. However, with Ravi Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma arguably three of the very best to do it in Indian conditions, we’re expecting India to make amends for their loss in first test.
Axar Patel, renowned for his bowling prowess, also boasts significant batting skills, especially in favourable conditions. He shone for the Delhi Capitals in the previous IPL season and played a crucial role in India’s series victory over Australia, achieving the highest average among Indian players with 264 runs at 88.00, including three half-centuries. Only Kohli surpassed him in total runs, with an impressive 186 in the last match on a flat pitch. Axar’s batting proficiency is vital, especially considering the likelihood of him batting in the top six to counter England’s left-arm spinners, a challenge he is well-equipped to tackle. He looks a great play to cover his line of 22.5 runs in the first innings with top cricket bookmakers.
In the 2021 series, Rohit Sharma’s stellar 161 in Chennai was crucial for India’s comeback after an initial setback. His remarkable form continued during India’s tour of England later that year, where he scored a brilliant 127 at The Oval, earning him the Man of the Match award. With promising starts last week (24 & 39), Rohit is in good touch and primed for a player of the match performance this week.
