From Group Two win to six-week ban

Josh Adams’ joy after a Group Two Randwick win has been soured by a 6-week suspension in the country

Less than 24 hours after a career highlight, jockey Josh Adams has made a blunder which will keep him out of the saddle for six weeks.

Adams rode Happy Clapper to win the Group Two Tramway Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, to cap the long road back to the big-time after drug related issues.

On Sunday at Moree, Adams stopped riding odds-on favourite Magic Ray 100m before the post.

Lord Russel moved up on the inside and Adams was spurred back into action but Magic Ray came up a nose short.

Adams pleaded guilty to a handling charge with stewards issuing a six-week ban from September 6 to October 18.

The Pat Webster-trained Happy Clapper will be ridden in his next start by Blake Shinn who was in Melbourne on Saturday.
