EPL 2022/23 Matchweek 2 betting tips | Sunday 14/8 – Monday 15/8
This is part two of our best bets for Matchweek 2 in the English Premier League, as we have already covered the games that will be played on Saturday, August 13. There will be three games played across Sunday and Monday, and here are our free betting tips & odds for those fixtures.
Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United
West Ham have been one of the more consistent teams in the Premier League over the past few seasons, and while they are never a title contender, they can match up to anyone. West Ham have built a physical team that plays a tough brand of soccer and they have found a lot of success within that plan. Unfortunately for them, in Matchweek 1 they had to play Manchester City and lost 2-0, but they didn’t play as poorly as the score line might suggest. Now, they will have a game against the newly promoted Nottingham Forest and they shouldn’t struggle too much with them.
Forest are going to have a tough time in the Premier League as they simply lack the resources of other squads. While they will be at home in this game, West Ham have a substantially better team and it will be hard for Forest to match up with them. Forest looked like a relegation candidate with their Matchweek 1 performance against Newcastle and it’s hard to see them righting the ship one week later. West Ham shouldn’t struggle too much and this line is drastically underrating their ability.
West Ham United to win
Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur
This is going to be the game of weekend as both of these team have top-four aspirations. Tottenham are one of the trendiest teams to succeed in the EPL as they had a phenomenal transfer window. With new coach Antonio Conte, optimism is very high in the Tottenham camp and it translated to a 4-1 win in Matchweek 1. Tottenham looked dominant against Southampton and their attack featuring Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski was a force to be reckoned with. Chelsea will be a step above Southampton, but Tottenham looked the better of the two London teams in the opening week and they should cover the spread in this fixture.
Chelsea are still figuring out their team. After a tumultuous transfer window that featured the departure of several key players, the Blues have to build their team on the fly. Of course, Chelsea can succeed in doing so as they have a lot of resources, but certain teams will give them trouble. While Chelsea may dominate the midfield, their new defence may struggle to contain the Tottenham attack. Take Tottenham at the line and watch what should be a great Sunday Premier League game.
Tottenham Hotspur -1
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
While Liverpool struggled in their Matchweek 1 fixture against Fulham, Mohamed Salah appeared to have not skipped a beat. He scored a goal and he looks motivated to have another great season. Salah has scored at least 19 goals in each of the last five Premier League seasons and he has truly established himself as one of the best players in the world. Simply put, he should have a big game against Palace. Crystal Palace conceded three times in their first game against Arsenal, and while the Gunners are good, their attack is not on the same level as Liverpool’s. The Reds should bounce back well from their disappointing draw in Matchweek 1 and Salah should be the catalyst. Take Salah to score a goal at -125 in a game where he may be able to push for a hat-trick.
Mohamed Salah anytime goalscorer
