Sunday afternoon football for Anzac Round of the NRL Premiership kicks off at 2pm with the Dolphins hosting the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium.
The Dolphins will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing, and controversial, loss to the Rabbitohs, while the Titans will be looking to make amends for a similar loss to the Broncos.
Kenny Bromwich will miss Sunday’s clash due to suspension as Felise Kaufusi returns from his four-week ban. Also, Jarrod Wallace comes onto the interchange bench in place of JJ Collins.
The Titans have made several changes, dropping off-season recruit Aaron Schoupp to the reserves and shifting Phillip Sami to the centres to accommodate the return of Jojo Fifita. Thomas Mikaele will make his NRL return via the bench and Klese Haas will play his third game in the NRL after dominating the Queensland Cup.
With the return of key forwards Kaufusi and Wallace, the home side’s gameplan will be simple. The reshuffled backline for the Titans could create issues in their attack, especially with a lack of first-grade experience on their bench. Coach Wayne Bennett will have the Dolphins focused on a clear gameplan that will see the Titans struggle to stay in the arm wrestle of set-for-set football. The Dolphins should be able to secure another win for the season, which is paying $1.65 odds with Marantelli Bet.
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Jamayne Isaako have been instrumental in the Dolphins’ early success. Both have the talent to be among the best players on any field they take, as they have shown so far in 2023 by scoring tries all across the park. Isaako is no stranger to the corner posts of Suncorp and Tabuai-Fidow will be continuing to push for selection in the Queensland Maroons backline for State of Origin. Look for this scoring trend to continue with both Isaako ($1.66) and Tabuai-Fidow ($1.71) crossing the line at any time during the match.
The new-look Gold Coast Titans lineup, along with the relative inexperience of Dolphins halfback Isaiya Katoa and his new combination with Kodi Nikorima, will likely make for a difficult afternoon on offense for both sides. Despite brilliant weather predictions that would normally assist with a high-scoring game of football, points could prove difficult to come by. Look for this match to finish below 45.5 total points ($1.90).
Key matchup: Felise Kaufusi v David Fifita

The battle between these two exceptional back-rowers is one of the best matchups for the weekend. David Fifita has spent the offseason, and beginning of this season, reshaping his game to become as consistent as he is damaging. Although yet to score a try, his workrate on both sides of the ball has put him in the mix for a return to the State of Origin arena for Queensland. Felise Kaufusi is one of the men standing in Fifita’s way, having reinvented himself at the Dolphins as the hard-hitting edge forward he was in his younger years. Fifita in attack against Kaufusi in defence will be the dress rehearsal Maroons coach Billy Slater has been waiting for.
