BOTH these teams came out on the wrong side of Sunday’s Big Bash League triple header.
The Sydney Sixers batted first at Perth Stadium and looked hard to beat after posting 5/177 – their highest score of the season.
The bowlers could not finish the job, however, as the in-form Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner steered the Scorchers to victory.
Of the visitors, only Ben Dwarshius emerged from that game with an economy rate of less than seven runs per over.
The result leaves the Sixers on four wins and four losses alongside several other teams, including a Melbourne Renegades outfit that endured a weekend to forget.
Only three days after their eight-wicket win at the Gabba, Andrew McDonald’s men were blasted off the park by Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum as the Brisbane Heat posted 4/192 in Geelong.
Forced to slog from the start, the ‘Gades failed to craft any significant partnerships and were rolled with only 91 runs on the board.
They were destined struggled without star seamers Kane Richardson and Usman Khan Shinwari, who have claimed 19 wickets between them this summer.
Shinwari is away with Pakistan’s ODI squad and will play no further part in the BBL, but Richardson is expected to return on Wednesday after some time off with a sore hamstring.

Is Dan Christian the best allrounder in the Big Bash League?
That might be a bridge too far, but the journeyman from Camperdown has proved a very canny signing for the Renegades.
Christian has added valuable runs to the middle order, especially when batting in tandem with Afghani star Mohammad Nabi.
His tricky medium pace has also dampened the impact of Dwayne Bravo’s defection to the Melbourne Stars.
The former Australia rep ranks top five at the ‘Gades in both runs and wickets this season, so there is value in backing him to deliver in either innings.
Sixers vs. Renegades betting predictions
Joe Denly is a big loss for the Sixers and it remains to be seen whether his replacement, James Vince, will have the same impact.
Shinwari’s departure is an even bigger blow for a Renegades squad that lacks the out-and-out star quality of other franchises.
Even though the game is at the SCG, most online bookmakers have Melbourne pegged as favourites.
Thus, there is a bit of money to be made if the Sixers deliver the goods.
