The Gold Coast Titans will travel to Townsville to take on the North Queensland Cowboys in Round 7 of the 2022 NRL Premiership, and the ladder position of both teams could fool any pundit after their pre-season predictions.
The Cowboys currently sit in seventh after posting three wins from the opening quarter of the competition, shocking many who believed they would contend for the wooden spoon.
They came from behind in the national capital last start and it bodes well for them as they come up against a team with similar flaws to the Raiders.
Coming back to their home ground sees them come in as slight favourites with online bookmakers, but keep an eye on them to shorten if Hamiso-Tabuai Fidow makes a freakish recovery from injury after being named in jersey 23.
Despite their good start to the season on paper, they gave away a win against the Warriors and couldn’t handle their business against the Bulldogs, so there is still a lot to prove for Todd Payten’s Cowboys.

Those who predicted a long year for North Queensland will point to their wins over a Canberra (a good value pick for the wooden spoon) and Brisbane (who never name the same halves combination) as reasons not to buy in to them.
The Titans… well, at least they are entertaining. The battle for week-to-week consistency is never going to be won when they can’t even be consistent within the same game.
They’ve fallen into an awful habit of only playing their best football once the scoreboard suggests the game is beyond them. Their first six weeks has been awful, with just enough good moments to paper over a lot of cracks.
Against the Eels twice and against Manly they only got back into the game because they were so far behind and played as if it was already lost. They also gave up a 22-point lead to the Raiders and needed a miracle to get over the Tigers in the worst game of all time.
Key matchup: Nanai vs Fifita
David Fifita is unlike any player the NRL has ever seen. He does things no one before him has been capable of, but unless every touch of the footy is a highlight play, he is deemed a waste of money. The Cowboys have a young up-and-comer in Jeremiah Nanai who doesn’t possess the raw physical skills of Fifita, but he has shown enough that he will be a huge problem for 15 other NRL clubs in the future. They may not cross paths many times on Saturday evening, but either man would make an excellent first tryscorer option down the right edge for their respective clubs.
Cowboys vs Titans betting predictions
The Cowboys have won eight of their last nine home games against the Titans, with their Round 3 loss last year being the exception to what has become a rule. The Titans just cannot be trusted, and even if the Cowboys’ record is a little fraudulent, they have shown more consistent play in the opening rounds.

Cowboys vs Titans same-game multi tips
Cowboys 1-12 with Jeremiah Nanai, Murray Taulagi and David Fifita all scoring tries at $52.31 with Neds is certainly worth exploring. Even if you take Fifita out, there is still terrific value for an all-Cowboys multi at $19.
