Champions League Matchday 6 best bets & goalscorer tips
The Champions League group stage is finally coming to a close and Matchday 6 will be the end of the tournament for many teams. While some of the groups are sorted, there promises to be some drama in the others. Here are BettingPlanet’s free picks for the slate, with odds courtesy of Marantelli Bet.
Porto vs Atletico Madrid
This game comes down to motivation and that will give Porto the advantage. The Portuguese giants are currently in a battle for the top of Group B and a win in this spot would be a massive step towards securing priority seeding for the knockout phase. As things stand, Porto are guaranteed to advance and Atletico Madrid are eliminated. Atleti will likely opt to bench key players and get a look at some of their young talent. Porto, if they want to win the group, will have their full first team out there. Take Porto to win at home as they continue their strong Champions League journey.

Bayern Munich vs Internazionale
When Bayern Munich sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, they didn’t find a direct replacement for the prolific striker. Maybe that was because Eric Choupo-Moting was waiting in the wings. The 33-year-old striker is having a great season with seven goals in 12 games across all competitions, including strikes in each of his last five games. If he starts, this will be a great spot for him to add to his tally. His odds are far too high considering how well he has played of late.

Viktoria Plzen vs Barcelona
Neither of these teams will be advancing to the knockout stage. For Plzen, that was probably expected, but for Barcelona, that is an absolute travesty that will have the Catalan giants missing Lionel Messi. Regardless, this Group C game should be a goal fest. Plzen have conceded four or more goals in four of their five Champions League games and they are clearly not at the level of their opponents. While Barcelona have struggled, they should be able to score on this terrible defense. Also, Barcelona have conceded 10 goals in five UCL games. We expect both teams to score and for the over to hit with relative ease.

Marseille vs Tottenham Hotspur
This is the most fascinating group of the Champions League, as each team is a chance to either advance to the next round or miss out altogether. If Tottenham win or draw, they will secure a spot in the knockout phase, and we think they will go for it. After having a goal controversially overturned by VAR in the closing stages of their last UCL outing, Tottenham will be motivated to prove their dominance in this fixture. Marseille are a fine team, but they won’t be able to hang if Spurs play well. The Lilywhites have too much firepower in their attack for Marseille to stop, and even though this will be a tough away match, we like Antonio Conte’s squad to win in France.
Tottenham Hotspur to win
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Red Bull Leipzig
Christopher Nkunku has been a huge piece of RB Leipzig’s success. Through 19 games this season, Nkunku has scored 13 goals, and he is in a great spot to add to that tally here. Leipzig cannot afford to lose to Shakhtar, so they will put their first team out there. When that happens, Nkunku is the key to the attack. Against a beatable Shakhtar side, we expect Nkunku to be highly involved and continue the form that he has enjoyed over recent matches.

Juventus vs Paris Saint-Germain
This is another battle that should come down to motivation. Juventus are eliminated from the tournament in what has been their worst UCL performance in recent memory. On the other side of the pitch, PSG look every bit the contender they promised to be and are in a battle for the top of Group H with Benfica. PSG should put out a good side to wrap up first place, while Juventus will likely play some backups in order to avoid injury. At around -150 with the best soccer bookmakers, PSG hold all the value in this one.
