Sunday’s AFL blockbuster will feature Carlton and Port Adelaide at the MCG, where the Blues will look to snap a six-game losing streak against the Power.
Two of the biggest stories heading into this clash is the fitness of each team’s marquee midfielder, as Patrick Cripps and Ollie Wines will both be sidelined due to injury.
The Carlton captain has been at his best so far in 2022, but Cripps unfortunately suffered a light hamstring strain against the Suns in round four and will miss this game.
One of the more interesting incidents over the weekend was Ollie Wines’ heart problem, as the reigning Brownlow Medallist has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and will sit out for the near future.
Ken Hinkley’s Power are the only team in the AFL yet to register a win in 2022, but they love the matchup with Carlton and could break their losing streak this Sunday.
Michael Voss will be very familiar with how Port Adelaide want to play since he was their assistant coach from 2015-21, which gives the Blues some important insight.
Another area of the ground the Blues will have an advantage is their forward line, where Harry McKay will lead the charge alongside Charlie Curnow, Tom De Koning and the underrated Jack Silvagni.
Silvagni has already kicked six goals in 2022 and could have even more under his belt if he was more accurate, as he is very good at creating scoring opportunities.

Key matchup: Matthew Kennedy vs Travis Boak
Although they may not be the number one options for their teams, Matthew Kennedy and Travis Boak need to step up this weekend to fill the void left by Patrick Cripps and Ollie Wines. Boak is a known champion who has starred for years, but Kennedy is the one who is on the verge of becoming one of the better midfielders in the competition.
Kennedy collected over 30 disposals in the opening three rounds of the year but fell off in round four, as he only found the footy 15 times in the disappointing loss. The former Giant’s output may have a direct correlation with the success of the side, as they have not loss when he hits the 30 mark.
Carlton vs Port Adelaide match prediction
Despite losing the last six games to the Power, we think the Blues are going to get their revenge in a big way this Sunday. Even without Patrick Cripps in the midfield, the Blues should be more than fine since they have Sam Walsh, Adam Cerra and George Hewett. The Power defenders will struggle against the Blues without Aliir Aliir, as any of the talls could get off the chain and kick a bag.
Carlton +24.5
Carlton vs Port Adelaide disposal betting tips
Sam Walsh will become the main man for the Blues this Sunday, but we think Matthew Kennedy is going to be extremely important out of the centre. Kennedy is a tough player that can break tackles and get a quick clearance. Willem Drew is a very classy tagger who should go to Walsh, leaving Kennedy to dominate out of the centre.
Matthew Kennedy 30+ disposals
Carlton vs Port Adelaide same-game multi
The Port Adelaide misery will continue this weekend as the Blues snap their losing streak off the back of Matthew Kennedy in the middle and a supporting role from Jack Silvagni up froward.
Carlton +24.5 / Kennedy 30+ disposals / Silvagni 2+ goals
