The Brisbane Heat are fighting for their chance to play in the BBL 12 Finals when they host the Perth Scorchers at The Gabba. The last time these two sides met, Cameron Bancroft and Aaron Hardie led the Scorchers to a big win at Optus Stadium that the Heat need to bounce back from.
The Heat will be buoyed by the potential return of both Australian test stars Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw, while the Perth Scorchers will get back Ashton Agar to bolster their spinning stocks. Will the injection of superstar talent be enough to lift the Heat to a home win?
The Brisbane Heat are yet to be beaten at the Gabba having already taken down the Strikers and Sixers on their home ground. The addition of test stars to an already talented line up looks to be the boost they need to take down a powerhouse side like the Scorchers. The Heat are great value to get another win in Brisbane paying $2.20.
Josh Brown has absolutely exploded onto the BBL scene since his return to the Heat batting line up. Brown is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in the league, who can hit the ball all over the park, making him a bowler’s nightmare. He showed the Scorchers a glimpse of what he is capable of on Saturday. Not only will he have learnt a lot from that innings but returning to The Gabba will be a huge boost for him that can see him be the Heat’s highest run scorer of the match paying $5 with the top betting sites.
The Heat were certainly beaten convincingly by the Scorchers on Saturday, but with their fortunes set to change, there is a big market that can be capitalised on. The inclusion of Khawaja and Labuschagne into the side with Brown, Jimmy Peirson and Max Bryant gives this side a very generous batting line up. Should they hit their best form, the Heat should hit more fours and sixes than the scorchers paying $2.30 each.
KEY MATCH UP: JOSH BROWN v ANDREW TYE
The battle at the top of the Heat’s batting order will be key to the success of the Heat at their home ground. Brown has been getting the Heat’s innings off to brilliant starts and will look to continue his form against the Scorchers on Wednesday. Tye is one of the most skilled bowlers in Australian white ball cricket, something Brown will not have seen much of in Brisbane Premier Cricket. Brown will certainly have learnt a lot from his innings on Saturday and be looking to improve, but if Tye gets his man again, the Heat could find winning a lot more difficult.
