Bayern dominate Hoffenheim to stay top of Bundesliga table
Bayern Munich thrashed TSG Hoffenheim 5-0 on Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena, maintaining their place atop the 2024-25 Bundesliga table in Matchday 17.
Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane powered the hosts ahead in the seventh minute with a stunning low shot from 18 yards, while Portuguese defender Raphael Guerreiro guided the ball into the back of the net after being set up by Harry Kane.
Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma handled the ball inside the box, allowing Kane to convert from the spot in the 26th minute, while Sane doubled his account soon after the restart with a calm finish in the far post after connecting with Mathys Tel’s cross.
In complete control of proceedings, the Bavarians scored their fifth of the night through German international Serge Gnabry, who put the result beyond doubt with a tap-in moments after the hour mark.
Victory ensures Vincent Kompany’s men maintain their place at the helm of the Bundesliga table with 42 points, four-points ahead of defending champions Bayern Leverkusen in second.

Speaking after the game, the Bayern head coach was pleased by the five-star performance.
“I am happy with our performance and the mentality of the team,” Kompany said.
“We defended aggressively and played a good game. We must keep it up.”
The Belgian tactician also lauded his players for their strong response after surrendering the Meisterschale trophy to Leverkusen last season.
He said, “We are showing in every game that we are hungry and showing a reaction after last season. We have to keep at it.”
“We approached this game with a lot of respect for the opponents.
“For us it was not that we thought it would be easy but we have a lot of good players and today we showed a joy for the game.”

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim will be on the road against Holstein Kiel, and Marantelli Bet are offering odds of +136 for the visitors to triumph, with Kiel at +191.
