Australia seal clean sweep of Pakistan in T20 series
Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa were in top form as Australia clinched a 3-0 series win over Pakistan in Monday’s T20I clash in Hobart.
Only Babar Azam (41) and Haseebullah Khan (24) made significant contributions for the visitors as they crumbled for 117 with nearly two overs remaining.
Zampa strangled the Pakistani batters with figures of 2/11 from his four overs, while Aaron Hardie was similarly effective with 3/21.
Chasing a meagre total, the Australian openers again failed to fire, with Matt Short gone for two and Jake Fraser-McGurk making 18.
It mattered little, however, as Marcus Stoinis blasted an unbeaten 61 from 27 balls — with solid support from Josh Inglis (27) — as the hosts reeled in the total with seven wickets and just under nine overs to spare.
That sealed a series sweep for Australia, giving them a much-needed ego boost after Pakistan’s historic ODI series win.
The attention now turns to red-ball cricket, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series set to start in Perth this Friday.
Australia head west as $1.44 match favourites with top online bookmakers, while India — led by Jasprit Bumrah in the absence of Rohit Sharma — are $3.60 outsiders.
