Allknight Saint set for stakes assignment

Veteran galloper Allknight Saint has earned a chance at stakes racing with his strong win at Eagle Farm.

Jockey Jeff Lloyd made it two wins from two rides for trainer Brad Herne when he scored by 1-1/4 lengths to One Inch Punch ($3) in the Padua College Handicap on Saturday.

Herne was full of praise for Lloyd who also won for him on Temple Tilt at Doomben on Wednesday.

“It is a pleasure to have him ride for you because he does his homework and has a plan when he comes out to ride,” Hearne said.

It was the sixth win from 36 starts for Allknight Saint who had never won at Eagle Farm.

“He has taken more than second off the course record today so it might be time to give him a crack at something a bit better,” Herne said.

“I know he is seven but he will get into some of the better races over the summer with a light weight. One option I suppose could be the Bernborough Stakes here in December.”

Saluter was backed from $8 into $4.80 and fought on well to be third after leading into the straight.
