AFL multi tips, bookie specials & bonus bets for round 17

AFL Multi of the WeekIT seems like we are just counting down the days until the finals roll around.

The final eight seems settled, but the match between the Roos and the Power should set the finals in stone if North Melbourne are able to come away with the points.

Despite the finals already effectively being set, there are plenty of entertaining matches remaining.

This week we are backing a few favourites to get the job done against teams outside the top eight, while we are also siding with an outsider who has a winning streak that stretches into double figures.

All odds this week are provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is running a sensational deal for new customers.

Place your first bet at Sportsbet and the bookie will match it with a bonus bet up to the value of $501.

North Melbourne to beat Port Adelaide ($1.38)

Adelaide to defeat Collingwood ($1.16)

West Coast to defeat Carlton ($1.16)

St Kilda to defeat Melbourne ($2.16)

Multi value: $5.86 at Sportsbet

North Melbourne vs. Port Adelaide

Where: Etihad Stadium, Melbourne

When: 4:35pm, Saturday 16th July

North Melbourne and Port Adelaide clash in the first game of our multi in a match that has the potential to shape this year’s finals series.

The Power are the only team outside the eight right now in single figures ($8 at Sportsbet.com.au) to make the leap into the finals from the bottom 10.

The Roos need a win to arrest a slide which has seen them drop from the top of the ladder to the bottom of the eight.

Port were unable to register a win against the top of the table Hawks last week despite controlling large portions of the game.

A win for both sides is pivotal – North to consolidate their position in the eight, while it is lights out for Port if they cannot topple the Roos.

We are backing the Kangaroos to get the points here and end the Power’s finals dream.

North Melbourne to win – $1.38

Adelaide vs. Collingwood

Where: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

When: 7:40pm, Saturday 16th July

Two teams who have fought some big battles over the last 10 years meet at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night as the Magpies fly to South Australia to face the Crows.

The Pies were brilliant last week against the Giants, playing arguably their finest match of the season to cause a huge upset.

Adelaide did what they needed to against Carlton, recording a comfortable 10-goal victory.

Collingwood were terrific last week, but do they have it in them to go across the South Australian border and upset the most in-form team in the competition?

We are not expecting an upset – the Crows should win easily to keep their charge towards the top four on track.

Adelaide to win – $1.16

West Coast vs. Carlton

Where: Domain Stadium, Perth

When: 1:10pm, Sunday 17th July

An interesting clash between last year’s grand finalists and the 2015 wooden spooners is on the cards this Sunday as the Blues travel to Perth to face the Eagles.

A Carlton win would mark their third from four matches against the Eagles.

The Blues were ordinary last week in the wet against the Crows at the MCG, never truly troubling Adelaide en route to a 10-goal defeat.

The Eagles were fantastic against the Kangaroos in the west on Sunday, establishing an early lead before choking the visitors out of the contest.

Can the Blues cause one of the biggest upsets of the season? We think it is unlikely.

Adam Simpson’s men should crush Carlton and keep their top-four chances alive in the process.

West Coast to win – $1.16

St Kilda vs. Melbourne

Where: Etihad Stadium, Melbourne

When: 3:20pm, Sunday 17th July

The Saints and the Demons round out our multi this week at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium.

The form line does not read well for the Red and the Blue.

The Saints have been too good for the Dees in their last 13 encounters, a record that stretches all the way back to 2006.

Furthermore, the Demons have won just one of their last 26 matches at Etihad Stadium.

We are staggered at St Kilda’s price considering how good their head-to-head form is, how dominant they have been at the venue and how poor Melbourne’s Etihad track record is.

We are backing the Saints to win at odds this week to inject some serious value into our multi.

St Kilda to win – $2.16
