AFL Finals Week 1: Geelong make statement as Dogs, Blues bow out
Geelong were the biggest winners from a surprisingly lopsided opening round of the 2024 AFL Final Series.
After demolishing Port Adelaide in South Australia last Thursday night, the Cats have shortened to $4 in premiership betting with top bookmaker Neds.
Sydney lead the way at $3, however, after reeling in a three-goal deficit in the last quarter to stun the GWS Giants at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.
With a home prelim against either Hawthorn or Port to come, the Swans are paying just $1.65 to reach the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
The Cats are $1.90 to do the same, with either Brisbane or GWS standing in their way in the last four.
The Hawthorn surge continued on Friday night as they ripped through the Western Bulldogs to set up a semi-final clash with the Power.
AFL betting sites have Sam Mitchell’s upstarts pegged as $1.60 favourites to salute at Adelaide Oval, while they are now at $6 to win the flag.
After a dismal showing in their qualifying final, the Power have blown out to $17 to win their first premiership since 2004.
The Brisbane Lions made minced meat of Carlton at the Gabba, yet they will head to Sydney this Saturday as $2.10 outsiders for their date with the Giants ($1.73).
