The Adelaide Crows will search for their fourth win of the 2022 AFL season this Saturday afternoon, as they host the out-of-form GWS Giants at the Adelaide Oval.

Despite being filled from top to bottom with high draft picks and talented stars, the Giants are currently 15th on the AFL ladder after winning just one of their opening six matches of the year.

Leon Cameron has been put to the sword this season and is starting to feel the pressure in the coaches box, but one good win on the road this week could reignite the Giants’ season.

The Adelaide Crows have built their game around pressuring the ball-carrier and attacking hard on the counter, which has worked well in their wins but the better teams have easily worked around it.

Even though the Giants are very classy in the midfield and across half back, the Crows pressure may force them to make some uncharacteristic mistakes, which will make for an entertaining contest.

Neither team sustained a new injury over the weekend, but one star forward is set to return for the GWS Giants in Jesse Hogan, but only if he can get through the training week well.

Harrison Himmelberg has been great this season for the Giants thus far, kicking a goal in every contest and looking aggressive even while Hogan has been beside him. Regardless of whether Hogan makes his return, you can count of Himmelberg to pepper the goals for GWS.

Key matchup: Taylor Walker vs Lachie Keeffe

One player who has catapulted the Crows into fighting form since returning is Taylor Walker, who has kept his fantastic 2021 form rolling into this year. Walker has already kicked 12 goals in three matches this year, giving him the highest goals per game average in the competition.

Lachie Keeffe may not be the most skilled defender, but the former Magpie has the size and strength to match Walker inside 50. This matchup will be extremely important in deciding the match, as Walker has become a barometer for the young Crows, who feed off his enthusiasm and ability to stand up in big moments. Lock in Walker for at least a couple of goals, and do not be surprised if he gets off the chain and kicks another bag.

Crows vs Giants betting tips

Adelaide Crows to win by 1-39

The home field advantage at the Adelaide Oval is one of the best league-wide, as the Crows fans are always out in full voice to give their young squad an edge. Rory Laird and Ben Keays have turned into very good midfielders for the Crows, who should actually beat the GWS mids if Reilly O’Brien can outplay Brayden Preuss in the ruck battle, which we expect will be the case.

Matt Crouch to get 30+ disposals
Matt Crouch’s ability to win the footy has almost been forgotten given how long he missed with various injuries, but since returning Crouch has been a very handy inclusion for Adelaide. Crouch has a very good record against the Giants, as he has smashed the 30-disposal mark in each of his last four full-length matches against them, while he even put together 27 touches in the shortened game time back in 2020.
