A-League Round 5 odds, multi tips and betting predictions
Two teams remain unbeaten as we enter the fifth week of the 2019/20 A-League season. Let’s take a look at the matchups, the latest odds and the value bets for this weekend’s Australian soccer action.
Melbourne City vs Central Coast Mariners
7:30pm AEDT Friday, November 8 at AAMI Park, Melbourne
Melbourne City – $1.62 at Sportsbet
Draw – $4
Central Coast Mariners – $5.50
They had to work for it, but Melbourne City retained their undefeated status with a 3-2 win over the Wellington Phoenix last weekend. Now the league leaders take on a Central Coast Mariners side that claimed a shock 2-1 win away in Perth on Sunday. There is big money on offer for the Mariners to spring another upset.
Newcastle Jets vs Perth Glory
5pm AEDT Saturday, November 9 at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Newcastle Jets – $3.25 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.75
Perth Glory – $2.10
Last week’s 4-1 defeat to Sydney FC leaves the Newcastle Jets second from bottom and still searching for their first win of the season. That record inspires little confidence ahead of Saturday’s clash with a Perth Glory outfit that will be fuming after the loss to the Mariners.
Western United vs Western Sydney Wanderers
7:30pm AEDT Saturday, November 9 at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
Western United – $2 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.75
Western Sydney Wanderers – $3.75
Western United have made a promising start to their maiden A-League campaign and sit fourth after last week’s 3-2 win over the Melbourne Victory. The Western Sydney Wanderers are unbeaten and hold a share of top spot, yet they head to Geelong as outsiders after losing a couple of players to injury in their 0-0 draw with the Brisbane Roar.
Melbourne Victory vs Wellington Phoenix
4pm AEDT Sunday, November 10 at AAMI Park, Melbourne
Melbourne Victory – $1.83 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.75
Wellington Phoenix – $4.33
Both these teams are gagging for a three-pointer. The Melbourne Victory’s 3-2 loss to Western United leaves them with only one win from four games, while the Wellington Phoenix are dead last and still winless after last week’s reverse against Melbourne City. The Victory are well backed to get it done at their second home.
Adelaide United vs Brisbane Roar
5:30pm ACDT Sunday, November 10 at Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
Adelaide United – $2 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.75
Brisbane Roar – $3.60
Adelaide United had the bye last week, so they should be well rested as they look to follow up their 2-1 win over Newcastle two rounds ago. The Brisbane Roar are still without a win, but draws against the Glory and the Wanderers suggest they are not far off the mark. Although both sides are in the bottom four, the Reds are firm favourites at home.
A-League Round 5 multi tips
- Melbourne City win/over 2.5 goals – $2.25
- Western United and WSW both to score – $1.67
- Melbourne Victory to win – $1.83
A-League multi odds = $6.87 at Sportsbet
A three-leg ticket is plenty when dealing with the A-League. None of Melbourne City’s three wins have come with a clean sheet, so the result and overs looks a solid double. Both teams have scored in each of Western Sydney’s last 10 away games, while even the out-of-sorts Victory should fancy their chances against the winless Phoenix.
