A-League Round 3 odds, multi tips and market news
The early weeks of the 2019/20 A-League are proving difficult to predict, and Round 3 is no exception. Let’s take a look at the latest A-League betting markets, multi options and outright odds on offer at Australia’s best online bookmakers.
Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory
6:30pm AEST Friday, October 25 at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Brisbane Roar – $2.88 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.30
Melbourne Victory – $2.50
Friday’s clash at Suncorp Stadium sees two newly appointed managers looking for their first win of the season. Robbie Fowler steered the Brisbane Roar to a well-deserved 1-1 in Perth before resting up with a bye in Round 2. Marco Kurz has endured a tough start with the Melbourne Victory, who copped a rare home defeat to Western Sydney last week. The Victory are yet to score from open play this season, but they are aiming at four consecutive A-League wins in Brisbane.
Newcastle Jets vs Adelaide United
5pm AEDT Saturday, October 26 at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Newcastle Jets – $2.50 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.25
Adelaide United – $3
Having taken the bye in Round 1, the Newcastle Jets opened their A-League campaign with a 1-1 draw on the Central Coast last week. Now they run into an Adelaide United side that should be brimming with confidence after a dominant win in the FFA Cup decider on Wednesday. The Reds will hope that win kickstarts their domestic season, as they currently sit at the wrong end of the table following 2-1 defeats to Sydney FC and Melbourne City.
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Sydney FC
7:30pm AEDT Saturday, October 26 at Bankwest Stadium, Parramatta
Western Sydney Wanderers – $2.88 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.60
Sydney FC – $2.40
Saturday’s derby date in Parramatta is also a table-top tussle between the only two teams that hold perfect records. After a gutsy win over Central Coast in Round 1, the Wanderers put in a big effort to end their Melbourne Victory hoodoo with a 2-1 win at Marvel Stadium. Sydney FC did just about enough to edge out both Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix, but they are yet to find anything like their best form and will want to lift this weekend.
Wellington Phoenix vs Perth Glory
6pm NZDT Sunday, October 27 at Westpac Stadium, Wellington
Wellington Phoenix – $3.40 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.40
Perth Glory – $2.20
The Phoenix have created a league-high 32 scoring chances over the first two rounds, yet they have only goal and zero points to show for it. The Kiwis will hope Gary Hooper, their newly signed striker, can fix that conversion issue. The Glory are one of seven teams yet to taste to defeat, but they are also one of the seven without a win. After 1-1 draws with Brisbane and Western United, a long away trip is less than ideal for last year’s runners-up.
Western United vs Melbourne City
6pm AEDT Sunday, October 27 at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
Western United – $2.50 at Sportsbet
Draw – $3.30
Melbourne City – $3
It is hard to fault Western United’s start to life in the A-League. The newbies are undefeated two rounds in and showed they can match it with the big boys when they drew with the Glory last time out. Now they usher in a new Victorian rivalry as they welcome Melbourne City to Geelong for the first time. City are also undefeated after the opening fortnight, but they copped a battering in the FFA Cup final and would love to win back some confidence by putting the upstarts in their place.
A-League Round 3 multi odds and tips
- Brisbane Roar to win or draw – $1.45
- Newcastle Jets draw no bet – $1.70
- Western Sydney Wanderers to win – $2.88
A-League multi odds = $7.09 at Sportsbet
Not one of this week’s five games is a sure thing, so keep it simple. The Roar’s second half in Perth was excellent and they will want to attack a Victory side that lacks an edge at the moment. The Jets should have the advantage over an Adelaide outfit that played in midweek, while the Wanderers have a big chance to put years of derby misery behind them.
