2022 World Cup Day 5 betting tips & top odds – November 24
Thursday’s FIFA World Cup schedule marks the start of the tournament for Group G and Group H — the last two pools to kick off. Day five will feature teams like Brazil and Portugal, so it should be yet another great day. Here are our best bets for the four-game slate on Thursday.
Switzerland vs Cameroon
For what feels like the fifth time in a row, Switzerland will start largely the same lineup as they did at their last appearance in a major tournament. Guys like Xherdan Shaqiri and Breel Embolo have been around for quite some time, and although they are aging, the Swiss team’s continuity could work in their favor. While Cameroon have some strong individual talent, this Swiss have been successful in past World Cups and they are always a tough out. We expect Switzerland to start off their tournament with a big win.
Switzerland to win
Cameroon anytime goalscorer: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting
While we think Switzerland get the win, Cameroon’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s anytime goalscorer odds present a lot of value. The Cameroonian striker has been a revelation for Bayern Munich this year, and while that Bundesliga team is better than this Cameroonian outfit, Choupo-Moting is playing too well to ignore. In his last 11 games for Munich where he has played at least a half, Choupo-Moting has 11 goals. Whether he carries that form into the World Cup remains to be seen, but at +400 with Marantelli Bet, he is a great bet to score.

Uruguay vs South Korea
Uruguay are one of our favorite teams for this World Cup, and they start off with a tough but winnable game against South Korea. The Koreans have a few top-flight players, but their overall depth doesn’t touch that of their South American counterparts. Also, Uruguay’s midfield of Fede Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur and Nicolas de la Cruz should dominate the Koreans. They simply have more depth in key places, and while Son Heung-min may be the best player on the pitch, Uruguay should easily win this.
Uruguay to win
Portugal vs Ghana
While Portugal are expected to win this game with ease, we actually think Ghana can keep this close. Ghana have been a strong team in past World Cups and Portugal have all the hype right now. While we don’t think Ghana will win this game, it must be noted that Portugal’s defense isn’t as strong as it has been in the past. Because of this, we will be fading the Iberian side all tournament long. We believe Ghana will be able to grab a goal or two, and while it may not be enough for a win, it will be enough to cash this bet.
Both teams to score
Brazil vs Serbia
This is sneakily a very fascinating game. While Brazil are the tournament favorites, Serbia actually have a group of top-notch players and could give the South American giants a tough game. That being said, we don’t trust the Serbian defense and Brazil should be flushed with chances. The guy at the receiving end of those chances will be Neymar, who is in the midst of a great season. The Paris Saint-Germain star has 11 goals and nine assists in 14 Ligue Un games this campaign and looks as dangerous as ever. Neymar will take the penalties for Brazil as well, and these odds are far too long considering his form. Take Neymar to find the back of the net in what could be a high-scoring game.
