World Surf League Finals head to Cloudbreak in 2025
The World Surf League (WSL) has revealed that the 2025 WSL Finals will take place in Cloudbreak, Fiji.
This thrilling one-day event will crown the men’s and women’s World Champions at the conclusion of the Championship Tour (CT) season.
The specific dates for the 2025 WSL Finals and the complete CT schedule will be disclosed this season following the Lexus WSL Finals in San Clemente, California.
Situated near Tavarua Island in Fiji Cloudbreak is celebrated for its iconic waves.
Known for its left hand barrel that breaks over a reef and handles waves ranging from two to twenty feet, this potent and steady character will offer an exhilarating challenge for the Final 5 surfers as they vie for the title of 2025 World Champions.
Cloudbreak first hosted a competition on CT in 1999, when Mark Occhilupo emerged victorious and eventually clinched the World Title in that year.
“Cloudbreak is truly one of the best waves in the world, and hosting the Finals at such an iconic break is going to be incredible,” said Ryan Crosby, WSL CEO.
“As our surfers continue to push the limits at every event, Cloudbreak will be the perfect place to showcase their progression and crown our World Champions next year.”
The presence of Fiji on the CT is a result of a partnership with the Fijian Government extending until 2026.
“We are stoked that the World Surf League has chosen Cloudbreak, Fiji, as the venue for the 2025 WSL Finals,” said Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji.
“Our waves and warm hospitality await surf enthusiasts from around the world. We look forward to showcasing Fiji as a world-class surfing destination.
This event boosts our global visibility as well as uplifts communities and inspires our local surfers. Vinaka vakalevu, WSL, for recognizing Fiji as the ultimate destination for this event.”
With the WSL Fiji Pro set to be event #9 on the 2024 WSL CT season, the stage is set for surfers to showcase their skills in one of the world’s most formidable waves, setting the tone for what promises to be an electrifying finals in 2025.
