Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 finals preview & betting tips
After five weeks of drama, huge crowds and record-breaking TV audiences, the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup reaches its climax at Twickenham in the wee hours of Sunday morning (AEST).
A capacity crowd of 82,000 will watch Canada try to dethrone England in the gold medal match, while two proud rugby nations, New Zealand and France, square off for bronze earlier in the day.
Below is how both contests shape up, with our best rugby union betting tips for punters.
New Zealand v France bronze final preview
Saturday, September 27 — 9:30pm AEST — Allianz Stadium, Twickenham
The Black Ferns will be hurting after their shock 34-19 semi-final defeat to Canada. They were 24-7 down at half-time and never truly recovered, despite two second-half tries. Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, Ruahei Demant and Braxton Sorensen-McGee still give the Kiwis strike power, but their accuracy at the breakdown must improve to avoid back-to-back losses.
France were excellent for an hour against England in their 35-17 semi-final defeat. Kelly Arbey and Nassira Konde gave them punch out wide and their line-speed rattled the Red Roses before they faded late. Les Bleues have won four of the last six meetings with New Zealand, including a 2023 thriller, and won’t lack motivation.
The Black Ferns’ pedigree and finishing power should tell in the second half as they chase bronze and should be winning this one by 11 points or more.

England v Canada final preview
Sunday, September 28 — 1am AEST — Allianz Stadium, Twickenham
England are world number one, fully professional since 2019, and unbeaten in 32 Tests. They survived a huge scare from France in the semi-final before Megan Jones sealed it late. Their set-piece, rolling maul and tactical kicking remain bankable platforms, and they’ve beaten Canada 33 times in 37 meetings, including the 2014 final.
Canada, though, have been the story of the tournament. They demolished Australia 46-5 in the quarters and stunned defending champions New Zealand 34-19 in the semis, launching into a 24-7 half-time lead. Captain Sophie de Goede, scrum-half Justine Pelletier and Alex Tessier drive a lightning-fast ruck game. They’re unbeaten in 2025 and brimming with belief despite funding struggles at home.
The Maple Leafs’ speed, fitness and breakdown dominance give them a live chance to shock the Red Roses and at $3.15 they are worth backing with the top online bookmakers.
