Wide range of options for Granny Red Shoes

Granny Red Shoes
Granny Red Shoes continued her impressive winter carnival form with a runaway win at Doomben.

Trainer Toby Edmonds believes he has plenty of options with Granny Red Shoes after the filly won her second stakes race of the winter carnival at Doomben.

Jockey Blake Shinn took Granny Red Shoes, the $1.55 favourite, back to a clear last in the middle stages but she sprinted far too well to beat Soaring Heart ($14) by 4-1/4 lengths in the Listed Winning Edge Presentations Stakes.

Granny Red Shoes was originally trained in Sydney by Peter Robl but her owners the Segenhoe Stud decided to send her north to Toby Edmonds at the Gold Coast for this campaign.

In four starts for Edmonds she has won three times wins including the black-type Oxlade Stakes.

Her other start was an unlucky second in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes.

“There is the option of going to Melbourne or Sydney for the spring. But she is also a Magic Millions horse so we can look at some of those million dollar races,” Edmonds said.

“There are a lot of ways we can go but most of her owners are in England for Royal Ascot so I will wait until they get back. But she is going to spelling paddock tomorrow.”

Edmonds had a double reason to celebrate as it was his and wife Donna’s 28th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
