The battle for the signature of Mitchell Moses is heating up with reports surfacing that the Wests Tigers are putting forward a mammoth contract offer.

The current Parramatta Eels halfback is a large part of the reason for the club’s success in recent years, with his junior club hoping to lure him home to achieve similar results.

James Hooper reported via Fox League that Wests are prepared to offer a whopping five-year deal to return to the club for around $1.3 million per season.

Moses would be joining the coach that gave him his first-grade debut, Tim Sheens, along with former halves partner Luke Brooks.

It has also been reported that the Eels are currently offering Moses $1.1 million for four years.

The club has been especially reluctant in recent years to offer big deals, but would be hoping the combination of recent success along with re-signing halves partner Dylan Brown on a huge deal will be enough for Moses to stay in Parramatta.

Moses has been earmarked as the key playmaker to lead the Eels to their first premiership since 1986, when Peter Stirling led the team to its fourth title in five years.

The Tigers, meanwhile, have won just one competition since entering the NRL in 1999; Sheens was the head coach when they saluted in 2005, and fans will be hoping his re-appointment bodes well for the joint venture.

Moses is currently under contract with the Eels until 2024; however, the player option in his favour for the last season of his contract means he has been eligible for free agent discussions since November 1 of 2022.

If successful in their bid to lure Moses back to Leichhardt, Moses would be joining a star-studded lineup including Api Koroisau, John Bateman, Adam Doueihi, David Nofoaluma, Stefano Utoikamanu, and former Eels teammate Isaiah Papali’i.

While all the speculation regarding the future of Moses is being linked to the size of his next contract, the player has spoken publicly about his desire to win premierships.

Moses was expected to make a decision on his future by December 25 last year, but that deadline has come and gone with no new date being set.
