W Farm suspensions for high-profile riders

Jason Collett has been suspended for 13 meetings after pleading guilty to a careless riding for an incident that ended in Rachel King falling from her mount as it passed the winning post at Warwick Farm.

King avoided injury but stood down for the remainder of Wednesday’s meeting after she fell from Puppet Master.

The in-form apprentice came to grief when Puppet Master clipped the heels of Al Mah Haha when the Chris Waller-trained colt shifted out after finishing second to Piracy.

Collett admitted he had shifted out when not sufficiently clear of Puppet Master but felt Al Mah Haha contributed to the collision.

“He has come out quite abruptly,” he said.

Racing NSW stewards imposed a 20-meeting ban reduced to 13 meetings after his record, plea and the fact the suspension includes two Group meetings, was taken into account.

King, who is is attached to Gai Waterhouse, opted not to take two more rides at the meeting after discussions with the legendary trainer.

She will be back in the saddle at Hawkesbury tomorrow and is booked to ride the Jason Coyle-trained Memes when the mare makes her black-type debut in Saturday’s Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick.

Glyn Schofield was suspended for six meetings after also pleading guilty to a careless riding charge stemming from interference caused in the early stages of race two while riding eventual winner Alizee.

Schofield’s ban also starts on Sunday and he can resume riding on August 18.

Josh Adams was the third rider to admit careless riding.

He misses four meetings between August 9 and August 16 after Sir Barb shifted out on Dream Lane.
