Victoria wins Origin series in Queensland
Clare Lindop has steered Witness to victory at Caloundra to help Victoria to victory in the third Origin Jockeys Challenge.
The challenge, which featured teams from five states, New Zealand and an All Stars side, was run over three days, at Doomben on Friday and Saturday and Caloundra on Sunday.
Points were allocated on the basis of five for a win, three for second, two for third and one for an unplaced runner, scratching or no ride.
After the second day NSW (15) led by a point to New Zealand (14) with Victoria (13) in third spot.
However, Lindop did the right thing by punters and Victoria wining on Witness ($2) in the first heat on Sunday.
South Australia’s Jamie Kah found the in the final 200m to win the second and final heat on Social Vampire ($3.60).
Victoria was able to pick up two extra points from the last heat which was enough to give them the win from NSW (20).
The final points Victoria (21), NSW (20), South Australia (18), Tasmania (18), New Zealand (18), All Stars (16) and Queensland (15).
