Two-year-olds on show at Rosehill

A Rosehill midweek meeting may have produced a couple of two-year-old autumn carnival contenders.

The Gerald Ryan-trained Albumin won the colts and geldings division on Wednesday with Limbo Soul from the Tim Martin stable pulling off a concerted plunge with her win in the fillies 1100m-race.

Limbo Soul was at $26 in first markets and the $3.20 favourite when the race jumped.

She firmed from $101 to $16 for next month’s $3.5 million Golden Slipper with her 3-1/4 length win over Memento.

Albumin is not in the Golden Slipper but Ryan has a couple of options after he defied his $12 starting price to score a three-quarter length win over Schubert.

“We’ll look at the Black Opal or the Pago Pago Stakes,” Ryan said.

“He is a very good horse. He was a bit of a lad as a youngster so he was gelded early.

“He’s not in the Slipper so he will probably have another run and then maybe a break.”

His stablemate Chauffeur is headed to the Slipper and was put through his paces with a course-proper gallop between races accompanied by three-year-old stablemate Star Of Monsoon.

The two went to the line together after covering the 800 metres in 46.17s with the last 300 in a slick 33.03s.

Runner-up to Houtzen in last month’s Magic Millions Classic, Chauffeur will have his next start in the Todman Stakes.

“They both worked very well,” Ryan said.

“He will run in the Todman Stakes and he needs to win or run second to guarantee a Slipper start because he’s number 19 in the order of entry at the moment.

“If he doesn’t get a start in the Slipper he will go to the Sires’ Produce Stakes.”

The Chris Waller-trained Dawn Wall is another headed for bigger things after her win at the meeting in an 1800m-benchmark race.

“She’ll go to a race like the Keith Nolan at Kembla or the Adrian Knox Stakes and then we will have a look at the Oaks in Sydney or maybe even Queensland,” Waller said.
