Tulloch Lodge formula works for Arbeitsam

Fit front-runners have underpinned the dazzling success of Gai Waterhouse’s training career and Arbeitsam has reinforced her winning formula.

The three-year-old gelding was $8 into $6.50 and never looked like getting beaten in Saturday’s three-year-old handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm.

“It’s a cliche – the bone and muscle of the Waterhouse camp – but the horse just ran along, was fit and got through the going perfect,” stable representative Neil Paine said.

While Tulloch Lodge is now led by Waterhouse in partnership with Adrian Bott, the recipe for success remains the same.

“They had the horse cherry-ripe today,” Paine said.

Jockey Adam Hyeronimus continues to repay the stable’s faith in him, notching his sixth winner for Waterhouse and Bott in the past month.

Lycia was Godolphin’s sole runner and her Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m) win has trainer John O’Shea considering the Group Three Dark Jewel at Scone in May.

“We’ll hope we’ve got a wet Scone,” O’Shea said.

After being supported from $5.50 to $4.40 before the race, Lycia held off Twist Tops ($16) by a neck with Roeinda a short neck away in third.
